LOCAL SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

LOCAL SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Author(s): Raluca Ana-Maria Dumitru / Language(s): English Issue: 1-2/2013

In the specialized literature the term of “local economic development” (LED) is currently used. In this paper I propose the term “local social and economic development” (LSED) combining the social sphere with the economic one. Local social and economic development is affected by the changes which take place today international, national, regional and municipal levels. Local initiatives represent all activities organized by local agents (economic, social and cultural) for business creation and therefore new jobs. Creating a social education corresponds, as a form of advice, or a recommendation, to the increasingly important role of public institutions in social life.

An aim of considerations is to assess functioning of the transport and logistic systems in the Zachodniopomorskie (West Pomeranian) and Pomorskie (Pomeranian) Provinces vis-à-vis other indicators of tourist potential. The methods applied in the study are an analysis of secondary data and a comparative analysis. In the study, there are characterised the transportation basis in the provinces surveyed and, based on the secondary data, carried out an analysis of the road transport as well as lodging and catering in the area of both provinces. The role of transportation accessibility was compared by the type of transport: road, railways, maritime and air as well as their infrastructure. Based on the indices of tourist potential, there was compared the potential of the provinces of northern Poland and determined the logistic barriers in Pomeranian tourism development. The Pomerania’s competitive advantage is decided not only by tourist values and attractions but also, to a great degree, the transportation accessibility based on the two types of transport – road and railway.

Fairtrade sistem i Republika Srbija – aktuelni trenutak, potencijali i izazovi

Author(s): Filip Brković / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 7/2013

In this article I will firstly present the current moment of the contemporary Fairtrade system and its benefits for marginalized, small-scale producers and workers from developing countries. Moreover, I will critically analyse the current position of the Republic of Serbia in relation to that system, as a country which belongs to a subgroup of upper-middle income economies whose producers and workers are excluded, and prevented from producing Fairtrade products by the current FLO International’s rules, regulations and standards. Finally, I will critically reflect on the commonly cited justification of this approach and point out the problems that it causes, for both the Serbian marginalized small-scale producers and workers, and for the Fairtrade system itself.

Przekształcenia funkcjonalne obszarów poprzemysłowych

Author(s): Katarzyna Przybyła,Eleonora Gonda-Soroczyńska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6A/2013

The paper includes the more interesting examples of revitalisations performed in post-industrial areas in Poland along with directions for revitalisation of the selected post-factory area in the small Lower Silesian town of Lubań. Bariery dostępu MSP z regionu sieradzkiego do źródeł finansowania zewnętrznego

Author(s): Zofia Przybysz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2011

In her article, the author presents the results of surveys on the factors causing an impeded access to the sources of external financing by SMEs of the Sieradz Region. The surveys show that the most important factors causing occurrence of this development barrier are, first of all, a high cost, too many formalities and a high time-consumption of procedures. Entrepreneurs have assessed that the degree of development of the market for financial services in the region is modest. The majority of the sources of financing were scored by the surveyed entrepreneurs as 0 (inaccessible source), 1 (hard accessible source) or 2 (medium-accessible source). The least number of zero scores was attributed to leasing, bank credits and trade credits.

Author(s): Snežana Vujadinović,Dejan Šabić,Mila A. Pavlović / Language(s): English,Serbian Issue: 2/2009

Polimlje is situated in the south-western part of Serbia, in the Raska region. In the morphological and spatial functional view this is a heterogeneous area which spreads over the Lim river basin in Serbia and Montenegro. The area of the Lim river basin is 5 784 km2, whereof 1 541.3 km2 belong to the Uvac river basin. The territories of the following municipalities belong to Polimlje in Serbia: Priboj, Prijepolje, Nova Varos and Sjenica. Natural resources of the region are explored insufficiently, whereof waters, ores, pastures, meadows and forests are significant in the economic sense. The prevalence and distribution of the natural resources have been pointed out in the paper, with an emphasis on the explanation of the quality of reserves and economic justification of exploitation. The hydro energetic potential of the Uvac, the largest tributary of the Lim, is significant. The priorities and directions of the regional development have been emphasized on the basis of uneven natural resources distribution. Taking into consideration the natural potentials, agriculture (cattle breeding) and energetic should be the main stakeholders of the economic development in the region.

It illustrates the importance of the Limitation Convention for regional economic integration, in particular, in Eastern Europe, and makes suggestions for legislative activities relating to this Convention with a view to promoting its use and uniform interpretation. Gospodarka współdzielenia – pojęcie, źródła, potencjał

Author(s): Barbara Sztokfisz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6/2017

The paper presents a theoretical overview of definitions of the sharing economy. It emphasises the role of the access to goods and services, which are systematically taking the place of ownership. It refers to the main categorizations presented in the literature as well as the genesis of the concept. It presents the sharing economy as an alternative model of consumption, one which seeks to increase the efficiency of the resources creating new value for societies. This new value is largely possible through the digital revolution providing previously inaccessible tools, through new quality in interpersonal relationships as well as increasing social awareness. The aim of the paper is to provide a systematic review of the literature and to clarify the principle of true sharing as opposed to a profit-based orientation.
