Regional Care and Therapeutic Centres as Institutional Foster Custody Facilities for Children

Summary/Abstract: Family is unchangeably the most important environment of education and care for a child as well as the place of satisfying the child’s needs. During realizationof family tasks there may arise significant problems causing difficulties in performing functions of such centres, including care and educational function, generating the need for support by different entities, including the placement of children outside their family house along with foster family care and institutional foster custody.The thesis is devoted to one of the institutional foster custody forms, namely regional care and therapeutic centres. It happens that childcare must be specialized, connected with rehabilitation and provided by a special facility. Regional care and therapeutic centres are such facilities and their description, both from the theoretical point of view and the analysis of performed surveys, has become the aim of the thesis. It seems so important, because so far the issue has not been given much attention in literature, including pedagogical literature; the centres occupy an important place in the system of childcare.
