O tome gdje bi se Deleuze i Lacan ipak trebali ponovno sresti

O tome gdje bi se Deleuze i Lacan ipak trebali ponovno sresti

Author(s): Peter Klepec / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 2/2015

The debate on the relationship between Lacan’s and Deleuze’s theoretical opus usually stops in 1972 when Anti-Oedipus was published, a work Deleuze published with Guattari. The biography written on Deleuze and Guattari by François Dosse and most of the interpretations (Žižek, Monique David-Ménard, Kerslake, Hallward, Badiou) agree that one cannot speak about any parallels between the two opuses after this work. However, it is not really so despite continuous critique of psychoanalysis by Deleuze failing to once mention Lacan and despite the fact that Lacan also fails to mention Deleuze’s name again. But Lacan whom Deleuze is criticizing is not a later Lacan from the seventies, just like the Deleuze Lacan knew is not the Deleuze of the 60’s any longer. This can only be seen if we put aside the usual arsenal with which one approaches the Deleuze-Lacan encounter, i. e. Oedipus, Law, signifier, lack etc. Despite unsurpassable differences concerning their understanding of philosophy, psychoanalysis, ontology, science and politics, my thesis here is that there are many parallels between a later Deleuze and a later Lacan in terms of understanding the contingent, that which Lacan calls The Real and all that is related to a change in the conception of the unconscious in Lacan, which now becomes the real-unconscious.

»Über-coca«, »Über-sex«, »Über-ništavilo«

»Über-coca«, »Über-sex«, »Über-ništavilo«

Author(s): Mario Vrbančić / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 2/2015

“Über-Coca”, “Über-Sex” and “Über-Nothingness” are metaphors of certain aggregate states: “Über-Coca” refers to Freud's experiments with cocaine, an open possibility of pharmatizing the conception as well as the entirety of psychoanalysis; “Über-Sex” is a constant need of not only controlling, and regulating sexuality, but of using it in production itself, as a particular sort of engine of productive forces; »Über-Nothingness” refers to borderline situations produced in such a control, ontological uncertainties only vaguely discernible from today’s vantage point. This essay tries to answer the question of how these “übers” permeate each other in creation of new sexual identities in the twenty-first century. First part of the essay deals with genesis of biopower which was mapped by Paul Beatriz Preciado in his work Testo Junkie: Sex, Drugs and Biopolitics in the Pharmacopornographic Era. After a brief overview of this type of biopower and capitalism, we are led to the ontological concept on which Preciado concieves his argument regarding pharmaceutical-pornographic capitalism. The issue discussed here is a concept referred to as potentia gaudendi, an orgasmic force which cannot be channeled, which is neither male nor female, a neuter, which permeates the animal realm, too, even the inorganic, therefore, it can almost be understood as a cosmic orgasmic force. Second part of the essay asks the question regarding the ontological merit of potentia gaudendi comparing it to another phantasm of the workings of financial capitalism as portrayed by Martin Scorsese's movie The Wolf of Wall Street, with a focus on analysis of the very performativity of ontological uncertainty which constantly returns. By criticizing Preciado and his/her reading of Lacan, the essay deals with “Über-Nothingness«, which seems to appear only at the end of the linear progressive sequence of »Über-Coca”, “Über-Sex”, “Über-Nothingness”, but is actually there from the very start.

Ricœurovo čitanje Freuda

Ricœurovo čitanje Freuda

Author(s): Jadranka Brnčić / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 2/2015

The article briefly sets out the main points of Ricœur's reflection about Freudian psychoanalysis as a hermeneutics’ language (as a method rather than doctrine) that questions the foundation of human consciousness. Hermeneutics of suspicion Ricœur opposes, as dialectical complementary, to hermeneutics of meaning, and on conflict of these hermeneutics is built a narrative identity. While writing about the narrative identity, Ricœur was not expressly returning to Freud, the very concept becomes one of the instruments of psychoanalytic practice.

The Freudian “Hermeneutics of Suspicion” and Historical Source Critique

The Freudian “Hermeneutics of Suspicion” and Historical Source Critique

Author(s): Tomasz Pawelec / Language(s): English Issue: 34/2015

The article concerns some aspect of the impact which psychoanalysis (depth psychology) had on the research practice of historiography. The author asks in what ways “psychoanalytic thinking” modified the handling of a historical source. He argues that the basis for the modification was a unique “hermeneutics of suspicion,” embedded in depth psychology. At the core of this hermeneutics is the attitude of a psychoanalytic therapist—a search for “a deeper meaning” of a particular psychopathological symptom, a meaning cunningly concealed but at the same time indirectly (and perversely) enacted and communicated by this symptom. The article identifies the main reasons for hermeneutics of suspicion penetrating historians’ way of thinking: “ontological” (connected with the specific view of the historical process adopted by historiographers of psychoanalytic sympathies) and “methodological” (related to the discovery and affirmation of the methodological “kinship” between researching history and practicing psychoanalysis). The author further argues that, contrary to superficial readings, psychoanalytic hermeneutics of suspicion is not just a radicalized version of the critical attitude towards the source, which by default marks scientific historiography in its various forms, but that it goes beyond it in important ways. The article considers also various practical consequences of the presence of this kind of hermeneutics in handling historical sources.

Gorszyciel. Schulz i zawodowi czytelnicy

Gorszyciel. Schulz i zawodowi czytelnicy

Author(s): Dawid Matuszek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (7)/2015

The author offers a re-reading of the figure of a father, around which Bruno Schulz’s work oscillates. Schulz’s father is made a patron of anti-hermeneutic literary studies, whose ambition is to transcend the opposition between comprehension and incomprehension of a text. This father favours a reading which is dissolute and scandalous. Therefore, as a figure embodying bliss, he is called here a father-shocker (in a creative reference to Lacan’s concept of le père… ou pire) – a perverted “lawgiver,” who obliges one even to violate the law and transgress the rules of the canon. He is the one who allows for acting on one’s own anti-rules: the more they are, on the one hand, materialistic and subversive, and on the other, pragmatic and inclusive, the more difficult it is to distance oneself from them or to reject them – and thus create a space for the sovereignty of the subject. Yet, as the author persuades, the readers do not know other than an obscene father; thus they necessarily play on his terms – but it is only when one gives in to him completely that it is possible to outplay him, that is to liberate new reading possibilities.

Prawość Ojca. Aleksandra Wata zmagania z testamentem

Prawość Ojca. Aleksandra Wata zmagania z testamentem

Author(s): Marta Baron-Milian / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (7)/2015

The article constitutes an attempt at analysing the role of the image of a real and a symbolic father in Aleksander Wat’s work. The point of the departure is a reflection upon the issue of avant-garde gesture of breaking off with the past and identity through a change of a family name from Chwat to Wat. The problem of misunderstanding resulting from the use of different languages forms the basis of the relationship between Wat and his father and serves as the background for the proposed interpretation, whose figure becomes the Tower of Babel. The image which emerges from the analyses of the poems composed by the author of “Buchalteria”, and especially from the fragments of his journal, is one of the “voice of the Father,” tormenting the writer, which has a close connection with the return of the suppressed Jewish identity.

Crna limfa/zeleno srce: Alternativni leksikon duše

“Reflection”

Author(s): Milica Banjanin / Language(s): English Issue: 3-4/2014

The focus of my study is on mirrors and reflections as they help translate the life stories of female protagonists into coherent patterns of knowledge about themselves. Mirrors and reflections in literary texts help us to understand that the act of observing requires constant adjustments to the way protagonists are presented, both to themselves and others. Of special interest are insights into representations of the mirror and reflection in texts such as Gennadii Golovin’s “Anna Petrovna”, Liubov Iunina’s “A Woman in a One-Room Apartment”, Natalya Baranskaya’s “The Kiss”, Viktoria Tokareva’s “First Try”, and Galina Scerbakova’s “The Three Loves of Masha Peredreeva”. Through these works I explore the mirror as a tool for reflection on how women appear to themselves, and how others see them in the act of self-contemplation.

Politika i etika obraćanja u lirici

Author(s): Andrea Milanko / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 2/2014

The paper critically examines the studies of two rhetorical figures – apostrophe and prosopopoeia – and their political and ethical consequences that have accompanied contemporary approaches to lyric since their emergence in the 1980s. If the figure of apostrophe is constitutive of poetry, and if prosopopoeia underlies every act of reading, then prosopopoeia generates a particular idea of lyric poetry, additionally supported by literary criticism. This idea is expressed foremost in anthropomorphisation of the lyrical subject. As the paper argues based on psychoanalytical and deconstructive texts by Barbara Johnson, this reading is most certainly biased and non-objective, but has, nonetheless, turned into an apriorism since Romanticism.

The expediency of studying psychoanalysis as a method of research and interpretation of contemporary fiction literature is proved. The detailed review of Ukrainian researchers’ critical works on the application of psychoanalysis in the study of the writers’ personality and creative works is realized to justify its use to contemporary literature. A lot of attention is paid to works that are appearing in Ukrainian literary and theoretical discourse in recent years (works of S. Pavlychko, N. Zborovska, M. Ilnytskyi, T. Hundorova, M. Moklytsia, I. Zherebkina, A. Pecharskyi, A. Bidiuk and others). They allow to extend the range of psychoanalytic studies involved in literary criticism. The main task of literature of recent decades is clearly outlined. An analysis of the effectiveness of psychoanalytic methodology is trying to be made. Jūrų lyderystė: mokslo metodologiniai kontūrai

Author(s): Saulius Lileikis / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 120/2024

Raising the question of the methodology of science as a strategic criterion for scientific research from a profound perspective, focusing on the levels of scientific definiteness, certainty, authenticity, value, meaningfulness, and following the epistemology of neo-Thomistic personalism, which most nobly describes a leader and highlights the importance of personality and subsidiary solidarity relevant to teamwork on a ship, this article explores relatively more prominent leadership theories combined with the historically most prominent directions in psychology, hypothetically formulating their connections from a logical utility perspective, considering common issues in seafaring. The aim of the article is to add some scientific and methodological value to global maritime leadership research. Considering the dynamic nature of the various needs of the activities of the ship’s crew members and the defined life philosophy of the leader’s personality, it would be useful for any leader in the workplace, regardless of his or her value orientation, to apply a comprehensive leadership approach, based on which leaders would regularly learn to balance the fulfilment of work needs and the fulfilment of their personal value orientation, reflecting the changing demands of leadership in the ship’s context, while remaining true to their authentic value identity.

Bifurcation of Archetypes in Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi’s Novel “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”

Bifurcation of Archetypes in Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi’s Novel “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”

Author(s): Oksana Dzera,Oksana Molchko / Language(s): English Issue: 17/2024

This article reinterprets Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi’s “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” by moving beyond the traditional view of the novel as a Hutsul “Romeo and Juliet” tale centered on a family feud. Applying Carl Jung’s theory of archetypes, the study explores how the narrative unfolds deeper psychological themes, including the Shadow, the Anima, the Wise Old Man, and the Changeling. The analysis reveals that the true essence of the novel lies in the protagonist’s struggle with his darker nature, his unfulfilled redemption, and the symbolic duality of the feminine, offering a universal exploration of identity, duality, and the human psyche. The authors integrate the overlapping of paganism and Christianity in the novel with the theory of archetypes, emphasizing how these elements shape the protagonist’s character and fate.

Online psihoterapija: prednosti i izazovi

Online psihoterapija: prednosti i izazovi

Author(s): Sabina Alispahić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 6/2020

Online psychotherapy, also known as e-therapy, e-counseling, teletherapy, or cyber-counseling, involves the provision of mental health services and support over the Internet. It can be done via e-mail, sms, video conferencing, online chat, or by phone. The aim of this paper is to present the advantages and challenges of applying online psychotherapy so that interested psychotherapists as well as their clients can make a choice about the use of online psychotherapy that will be based on relevant information. A review of the literature suggests that some authors and organizations strongly oppose online psychotherapy while others strongly support it. Other authors take a more objective perspective by considering the advantages and disadvantages as well as the circumstances and type of clients that are suitable for online psychotherapy. Much of what is believed to be effective in traditional therapy can also be done online. As with traditional therapy, one of the most important therapeutic components is still the therapist-client relationship, who can collaborate in new ways in an online context. There is no doubt that the Internet will be ubiquitous in our lives in the future, so its important role in the field of psychotherapy should not be neglected.

Kaygı nevrozunun psikanalitik kuram üzerinden incelenmesi: Bir vaka örneği

Author(s): Aygül Kakırman Moroğlu,Ceylin Özcan / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 2/2024

In the psychoanalytic literature, the definition of neurosis is stated as a psychic structure arising from the problematic of the Oedipal period, not based on any organic causality, related to internal psychic conflicts and containing unconscious phantasies based on symptoms. In Freud’s first views on the cases of anxiety neurosis, he claimed that the suppressed drive energy was transformed into anxiety; later in his work “Inhibition, Symptom and Anxiety” he reversed his initial theory, describing anxiety as a borderline affect on the ego in the face of fear of separation and loss of the object. In addition, in this work, he abandons the idea that it is suppression that produces anxiety and expresses that anxiety produces suppression. In this study, how a 41-year-old male client who meets the definition of anxiety neurosis of Freud was studied within the framework of psychoanalytic theory was explained. In addition, the defense mechanisms used by the client against separation anxiety were analyzed; the characteristics of the client with neurotic personality organization were examined in the context of psychoanalytic diagnosis. A total of twelve sessions were conducted with the client during the supervision process within the scope of a university's clinical psychology doctoral program. In the current study, after presenting the case history, the process of clinical work with the client with neurotic personality organization was interpreted within the framework of psychoanalytic theory.

ÇOCUK VE TABİAT İLİŞKİSİ BAĞLAMINDA HUZUR ROMANINA PSİKANALİTİK BİR BAKIŞ

Author(s): Mehmet GÜL / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 29/2025

According to psychoanalysis theory, childhood experiences form the psychological infrastructure of selfperception and behavior patterns in later life stages. Huzur is a novel in which psychological elements predominate and the positive effect of nature on the human spirit comes to the fore. The protagonist of the novel, Mümtaz, first loses his father, and a short time later his mother. Mümtaz, who has a feeling of loneliness, tries to get rid of this feeling by establishing contact with nature on the shores of the Mediterranean. The sun (father) and the sea (mother) become images in Mümtaz's imagination as moving nature elements, and cave and rock as motionless nature elements. For Mümtaz, nature acts as a window to eternity and is a world of "dreams" in which people are enchanted by penumbra and light plays, in which they escape from the crowds and the war agenda. There are similar aspects between Mümtaz's life story and Tanpınar's life story. This situation allows the researcher to make a psychoanalytic evaluation about the novel in the context of the relationship between child and nature. This study examines the traumas of Huzur's protagonist Mümtaz during his childhood and his orientation to nature in the context of psychoanalysis.
