Integrativní body-psychoterapie II.: psychoterapeutický proces

Integrativní body-psychoterapie II.: psychoterapeutický proces

Author(s): Filip Abramčuk / Language(s): Czech Issue: 1/2015

In the body-psychotherapy we enter the psychotherapeutic process on three levels: bodily, emotional and verbal. Apart from observing the verbal and emotional content of the client the therapist also uses skills of somatic resonance, body-reading and mindfulness to bodily feelings and emotions on himself and the client. He works with the reflection of transference and countertransference. He uses embodied knowledge of interventions aimed to release and also at ground the bodily affective energy. An important part of the process also takes up the verbal work (esp. exploration of the past, formulation of the deficient needs, integration of experience). The body-work is proposed as an offer of tentative experiments. The client learns to be mindful to himself and his reactions in the process. The body-work usually brings deepening of experience, newly felt relationship to one’s own body and its inclusion into the self. The personality shift is also reflected in the change of sensing and holding the body. In the process we try to avoid several difficult moments, e.g. emotional flooding, danger of retraumatisation. One casuistic example and its analysis is presented at the end.

Integrativní body-psychoterapie I.: teoretická východiska

Author(s): Filip Abramčuk / Language(s): Czech Issue: 3/2014

Working with the body in psychotherapy has roots coming up from W. Reich. Today a great variability among different schools and approaches is typical for it. The Integrative body-psychotherapy is presented in its theoretical base. Its origin is quite recent. The main pillars are A. Lowen’s bioenergetics; S. Johnson´s synthesis of character analysis, psychoanalytical object relations theory and body approaches, R. Kurtz’s mindfulness based approach, and also influences from D. Boadella’s biosynthesis and S. Keleman’s formative psychology. Shortly described is the concept of personality of Lowen, the concept of energy in the body, releasing it through impulses from the self and impacts of holding it in the form of blocks in the body. It is explained the concept of character structure and the development of it in general and concrete way. Finally it is introduced the use of mindfulness in the way of improvised experiments and so called probes.

V depresi společně: klinické implikace kvalitativního výzkumu prožívání terapeutů s depresivním klientem

V depresi společně: klinické implikace kvalitativního výzkumu prožívání terapeutů s depresivním klientem

Author(s): Jan Roubal / Language(s): Czech Issue: 3/2016

Working with depressive clients burdens therapists themselves significantly. This article offers a theoretical frame for describing therapists’ experience, which appear in the therapy situation with a depressive client. A model resulting from a qualitative study is presented: the therapists’ experience is conceptualized as “Experiential oscillation” between gravitating towards a clients’ depressive experience and moving away from it. It’s evolvement over the course of a session is depicted by a model of “Depression Co-experiencing Trajectory” with six phases: 1. Sharing depressive experience, 2. Turning to oneself, 3. Striving for symptom change, 4. Distancing from depressive experience, 5. Turning to a client, 6. Focusing on relationship.

K diskusi o vztahové psychoanalýze

K diskusi o vztahové psychoanalýze

Author(s): Olga Marlinová / Language(s): Czech Issue: 1/2014

Author(s): Maja Moroch,Dorota Katarzyna Suwalska-Barancewicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2021

Theoretical background: Personal resources are one of the attributes that protect against the destructive consequences of experiencing a difficult situation and that figure in the overall assessment of life satisfaction. Aim: The aim of the study was to analyze whether the individual dimensions of attachment are related to the level of personal resources of people diagnosed with schizophrenia and their life satisfaction, and to identify mediators that determine the quality of these relationships. Study group: 50 people were tested. The average age of the respondents was 49 years. Method: The measurement of the variable attachment was made using Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised by Chris Fraley, Kelly Brennan and Neils Waller, in the Polish adaptation of Cezary Wiśniewski; the Life Satisfaction Scale by Zygfryd Juczyński was used to determine the variable satisfaction with life. The level of personal resources was measured using the Lifespan Individual Resilience Scale in the Polish adaptation of Alicja Malina, Julie Ann Pooley and Craig Harms. Results: The analyzes carried out in the course of the study confirmed the existence of significant relationships between the level of personal resources and life satisfaction. Research has also confirmed that there are significant links between attachment and life satisfaction, and between attachment and personal resources. It also turned out that the level of personal resources is an important mediator in the relation between avoidance and the level of life satisfaction in people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Conclusion: The level of personal resources and secure attachment correlate with a higher life satisfaction of people diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Cosmetic surgery. A right to health or a luxury?

Author(s): Gianina Mălina Lăzărescu,Mona Vintilă / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

People have struggled over time to obtain rights. When we mention the subject of cosmetic surgeries, most tend to associate them rather with a lack of their need among people, considering them a whim and not a right. The present study aims to synthesize information from the literature on cosmetic surgery (what are the mechanisms underlying the choice to follow such a procedure, what are the sources that influence body perception and this decision, the associated risks, psychological aspects that accompanying this decision, the sources of information as well as the attitudes of the community towards those who resort to cosmetic surgery), arguing that they represent a human right. However, the study reveals the need to enact laws to protect patients from malpraxis.

Author(s): Yu. V. Laykova / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1-2/2022

In this article, the criteria for selecting such linguistic materials that can be used to identify the most common figurative units of the Russian language are suggested. They can be helpful in developing a tool to assess the cognitive functions in patients with diabetic encephalopathy, which is often associated with cognitive impairment. The latter is an important interdisciplinary problem. To solve it at the early stages of the disease, a successful diagnostic tool is needed. Here, paremiological units (syntactic structures with a figurative meaning) are considered as suitable candidates for this tool. The selection criteria were elaborated from G.P. Permyakov’s paremiological minimum and the core part of E.E. Ivanov’s paremiological corpus: a total of 123 paremiological units were identified and taken as the basis of the experiment.

Author(s): Teodora Stoycheva Stoeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2020

The paper discusses two of the most common forms of violence against women: sexual and domestic, leading to serious damage not only to physical but also to mental health. Violence against women is conceptualized in the context of the concepts of "crisis" and "psychological trauma", meaningfully related to the idea of transgressing socially accepted and close to the individual views of the world and human rights, putting them in a state of extreme confusion and insecurity. The risk factors and psychological consequences of sexual and domestic violence are considered. Leading approaches to therapy and counseling of victims of violence are presented. Specific guidelines and practical advice on how to conduct psychological support activities aimed at dealing with cases of violence against women are offered. The uncovering the psychological significance and consequences of various forms of violence against women in their dynamics has important implications for the prevention, intervention and support of victims.

Author(s): Boyko Panchev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2020

At a personal as well as on collective level, stress is present in all aspects of human life. When its intensity exceeds certain levels, it could lead to distress and even to a long-lasting condition known as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Until the mid-1990s scientists focused their attention mostly on the negative aspects of these two notions. However, more in-depth research on the subject brought the understanding that distress and PTSD could usher a lasting personal growth. Thus, the notion of posttraumatic growth (PTG) was born – a multi-layered, dynamic phenomenon that, to be fully understood, requires a look at the personal traits of the individual and their interaction with the physical, social and cultural environment.

Author(s): Svetlina Koleva,Plamen Kalchev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2018

The current paper presents new data regarding validity and invariance of factor structure by sex of Bulgarian version for adolescence of Short Dark Triad (SD3, Jones & Paulhus, 2014; Koleva, 2017), constructed to assess three socially aversive personal traits – Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. Four problems are to be empirically tested: (1) Effects of SD3 on Empathic concern (Interpersonal Reactivity Index, IRI, Davis, 1983; Kalchev, 2010) and externalized problems (Externalized Problems Inventory, Kalchev, 2010, measuring low behavioral self-control and norm-violating behavior); (2) Assessment of factor structure of Dark Triad in a new, independent sample (N=680); (3) Testing the factor invariance of SD3 by gender on a cumulative sample (N=1562); (4) Testing of a hierarchical model of Dark Triad (second order and bifactor model), i.e. a definition of a “Dark personality“, which can explain the covariance of Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. Gender and class differences in SD3 are also discussed. Results obtained confirm good psychometric characteristics of SD3 as a potentially useful and applicable instrument.
