Türk ve Alman Gençlerin Giyim Motivasyonu, Marka Duyarlılığı ve Moda Yönelimi: Karşılaştırmalı bir Araştırma

Türk ve Alman Gençlerin Giyim Motivasyonu, Marka Duyarlılığı ve Moda Yönelimi: Karşılaştırmalı bir Araştırma

Author(s): Tutku Eker İşcioğlu,M.G. Serap Atakan / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 3/2017

To identify the factors that affect young consumers’ clothing and brand preferences is vital for the development of international marketing strategies. In international markets, it is suggested to research local culture and take culture adapted decisions. On the other hand, international companies also aim to provide standardized marketing activities to the markets by considering the similarities in consumer preferences and aiming to reduce costs. Within the scope of the research, clothing motivation, brand sensitivity, fashion innovativeness, fashion opinion leadership and fashion involvement of 153 adolescents aged between 12-18 were measured. Findings indicate that differences arise not because of their nationality (German vs. Turkish) but demographic characteristics like gender and age of the adolescents. This research is designed to guide the marketing activities of Turkish apparel companies operating especially in Germany.

Dziecko i jego miejsce we współczesnym mieście

Dziecko i jego miejsce we współczesnym mieście

Author(s): Anna Palej / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2018

The article presented below, contrary to the suggestions contained in its title, will not give simple prescriptions for creating the desired relationships between the child and the urban environment. This is because it is not an easy task, among others due to the fact that there is no ‘middle child’, there is also no ‘present child’ but always a child between the past and the future. Concepts, in turn, such as ‘place’ or ‘city’ today lose their hitherto culturally established connotations and become ambiguous and unusually capacious under the influence of civilization changes. One thing, however, remains unchanged – it is the documented influence of the physical and social environment on the young generation, on its development and the nature of the experience gained. The article will therefore focus on: the challenges facing architects and decision makers affecting the shape of urban structures; what actions they should take to help children exist in society, present their talents and passions, gain due approval and respect; how it can be done to effectively replace ‘socialization through a computer mouse’ by ‘playing with the others on the street’, and finally – what benefits for all of us can come from Environmental Education of children and youth.

Trening empatii jako metoda zapobiegania zachowaniom agresywnym w grupie dzieci w młodszym wieku szkolnym – doniesienia wstępne

Trening empatii jako metoda zapobiegania zachowaniom agresywnym w grupie dzieci w młodszym wieku szkolnym – doniesienia wstępne

Author(s): Ewelina Wild,Jakub Lickiewicz,Marta Makara-Studzińska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2018

The work concerns the issue of the influence of the training on the empathy and the aggression in group of children 6–9 years old. The subject of the research was to determine the level of aggression in group of children 6–9 years old, conducting training of empathy, and re-examination of the level of aggression. Aggression was examinated by modified version of questionnare ‟My life in school” created by Tiny Arora, with polish adaptation by Tomasz Kołodziejczyk. The empathy training included eight exercises, the aim of which was to develop skills related with empathy. There was 100 students of elementary school in the study group, 52 girls and 48 boys. A conducted statistical analysis confirmed the correlation between the empathy training and the level of aggression in whole study group. However, a hypothesis about relationship between sex and effectiveness of training weren’t confirmed. Both boys and girls empathy training brought results, although it was more effective in first group. The empathy training was proven to be effective. It reduced the level of aggression in the study group of 100 children 6–9 years old. These findings prompted to number of doubts and thoughts about its implementa on and encouraged to reflection the improvement of future research trials. It is certain, however, that empathy training reduces aggression and can be an effective tool in dealing with aggression at school.

Dinî Kimliğin Oluşumunda Çocukluk Döneminin Etkisi: Rol Teorisi Bağlamında Psikolojik Bir Analiz

Author(s): Şerife Ericek Maraşlıoğlu,Saffet Kartopu / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 2/2023

A human who open their eyes to life finds themselves within a religious tradition and culture. They encounter religious objects and places, meets religious people and live in communication with them. They learn about religion from their family and their surroundings; they see people who perform their religious worship, and from time to time, they themselves participate in these worships. They ask questions, do research, and turn to the use of religious words and concepts. Childhood period has a significant impact on the formation of religious belief, attitudes and behaviours in adulthood, in other words, on the construction of religious identity. The study examined the origins of individual and collective religious identity, religious experiences from childhood to adulthood and cultural contexts. Thus, it was investigated that how participants constructed their religious identities by making sense of the reference frameworks that they acquired from religious narratives and traditions. In this context, the factors that shape and define the construction of religious identity have been analysed in two dimensions, theoretical and field research. 60 participants aged 25 to 75 living in Kahramanmaraş were interviewed in between 2021 and 2022. The study analysed findings about how adult religious individuals build their religious identities using phenomenological patterns from qualitative data collection methods. In the study, the participants were selected with the purposeful sampling method identified with the phenomenological pattern and the study conducted 40-160 minutes of face-to-face in-depth interviews with semi- structured questions prepared separately for 5 main and 13 sub-categories. The data obtained was analysed and categorised using the MAXQDA 12 package program. At this point in our research, the question of what are the factors that influence the formation and maintenance of a person’s religious identity is sought in the framework of the research findings. According to the findings obtained as a result of the study which is based on the basic approaches of role theory it has been observed that the family factor is prominent in building an individual’s religious identity. In addition to the influence of parents on family members in shaping religious identity, it has been observed that some participants are influenced by extended family members such as grandparents. On the other hand, it has been found that schools and courses attended under the referral of the family or the society, the religious officials and religious groups met, and media programmes followed are factors that influence the building of the individual’s religious identity after the family. It has been determined that religious texts and folkloric elements provide stereotyped roles in making choices such as the style of clothing eating and drinking, which are symbolically reflected in the individual’s life, in the implementation of religious orders and moral principles, in short, the construction of religious identity.

Author(s): Seçil Simge Uyar,Ergün Hamzadayı / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2023

This study aimed to determine the effect of teaching speaking strategies on both speaking performance and speaking anxiety. A controlled pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was employed in the study. The study group comprised 38 eighth-grade students: 19 in the control group and 19 in the experimental group. The data for this study were collected using the speaking evaluation form and the speaking anxiety scale for secondary school students. The data were analyzed using the dependent-samples t-test, independent-samples t-test, and analysis of covariance. One finding of this study suggested that teaching speaking strategies did not result in a significant difference in speaking performance or speaking anxiety compared with traditional instruction. However, the introduction of speaking strategies had a positive and significant effect on speaking performance in the experimental group, although it did not influence speaking anxiety.

Three Ways to Read Dąbrowski’s Theory. It Is Not All Flat Here. Constructing a Neo-Dąbrowskian Approach

Three Ways to Read Dąbrowski’s Theory. It Is Not All Flat Here. Constructing a Neo-Dąbrowskian Approach

Author(s): Dominik Chojnowski / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2023

This article analyzes Dąbrowski’s theory of positive disintegration referring to current debates in the USA which discussed certain parts of the theory (e.g. overexcitabilities) and neglected others (e.g. dynamisms). This approach caused simplification of the theoretical framework proposed by Dąbrowski and inscribed it into the narrow quantitative understanding of science. Lastly, Piechowski proposed to significantly modify Dąbrowski’s theory and to even discard the two lowest levels of development in theory. This caused a reaction by Tillier and Mendaglio who tried to defend the original concepts of the author of the theory. This article juxtaposed these two interpretations of the theory and shows a third possible interpretation based on English and Polish texts written by Dąbrowski. This interpretation solved problems present in the previously mentioned approaches to the theory and shows the way forward into more systematized theoretical research which is seriously needed if we want to further develop theory and its main notions.

The real physical world and the virtual mental world

The real physical world and the virtual mental world

Author(s): Makudan CR,Chella Kamarajan / Language(s): English Issue: 6/2020

Development of a functional systems within the body, which enables differentiation and recognition of signals received by specialized body organs, and development of signals for identification and differential expressions of the signals and their various sources of origin, creation and maintenance of these signals and the associated meanings in verbal and nonverbal modes of expression, and their internal as well as external utilization, verbally as thoughts and symbols or sensory imageries, helped generation of a functional system, which we have been calling the ‘mind’. Mind becomes the method of verbalization and accounting for the principles of temporal and spatial relationships detected either personally by the body or using specially designed external objects or sources received over space and time within the universe, and within the body as experiences. Each person could create a mental account of the sensory-motor experiences and their expected or anticipated effects, and verbally and symbolically encode an account of the relationships within. Additionally, the mind learns special ability to present the tonal quality of their expressions in a manner, which came to be identified as musical expressions, and which have become vocally and instrumentally played musical notes. Mind is the method developed within the system for the expressions of the verbally as well as materially created expressions, which need to be internally developed , as well as externally created and assembled methods, representing the real as well as imaginary world, where the virtual world, mentally created for representing the real relationships, as experienced by the body and internally represented or encoded by using various expressive methods, which are often more complex than the real world they had earlier contacted and acquired through their encoding.

Взаимовръзка между стил на привързаност и типичните начини на реагиране в конфликтна ситуация

Author(s): Filipa Velkova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2024

In recent decades, the influence of individual attachment styles on the dynamics of interpersonal relationships has received increasing attention in the psychological literature. A number of researchers have suggested that attachment in adults is directly related to the behavioral patterns they use in conflict situations in close relationships. This study examines the relationship between attachment style and typical responses in a conflict situation by having respondents complete the Experiences in Close Relationships revised – ECR-R and Thomas-Killman Conflict Mode Instrument – TKI. Based on the Stewart's t-test conducted, we can assume that it is typical for securely attached individuals to respond to a conflict situation primarily by seeking compromise, cooperating, and accommodating. It also seems to be characteristic of insecure-anxious individuals to cooperate, whereas insecure-avoidant individuals tend to flee. Adaptation as a way of responding to a conflict situation is most strongly associated with the insecure-anxious attachment style. Based on the findings, possible future research work is discussed.

Хроничното заболяване и неговото въздействие върху тревожността и депресията при деца

Author(s): Artemisi Shehu Dono,Arjana Muçaj / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2023

Chronic illnesses are defined as physical or mental conditions that affect the functioning of individuals for a period of time longer than three months a year or individuals hospitalized for longer than a month. This study’s aim is to provide a scientific contribution to understanding the symptoms of anxiety and depression in children with chronic illnesses. Emotional problems are closely related to chronic illness. The participants of this quantitative study are 32 pediatric patients ranging from ages 6-13 years old, 28 of who were taken from QSUT and the other 4 from Pogradec Hospital Center. Anxiety was identified by the Children’s Anxiety Inventory (STAI-CH), while depression was identified by the Patient Questionnaire (PhQ-9). The results obtained from the SPSS statistical analysis did not support the first hypothesis of the study regarding the relationship between chronic illness and anxiety. Likewise, the second hypothesis of the study regarding the relationship between chronic illness and depression was also not supported. However, the third hypothesis of the study was supported, stating that the hospitalized children exhibit higher levels of anxiety and depression than those in the outpatient clinic. This study, contrary to the other studies, did not find a significant relationship between anxiety, depression and chronic illness, but brought other important results to be applied in future studies.

Ефекти на психологическа устойчивост върху учащите

Author(s): Nelly Koleva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2023

Psychological resistance is a person's ability to resist and deal with difficulties. People have this power in difficult situations. Even the stress experienced can be turned into personal gain. It has been observed that as a result of the experienced situations, people may increase their psychological resistance or lose this ability. Research on college students confirms these claims. Young people with a healthy psyche in the learning process very easily manage their stress. In the event of a dispute or conflict, they exhibit very calm and correct behavior. They do not allow the sources of stress to exhaust them and reduce their responsibility to society, they tend to recover faster and return to their normal way of life.

The objective of this study is to uncover the content analysis of postgraduate theses focused on the families of individuals diagnosed with autism, specifically within the realm of sports in Turkey from 2013 to 2023. The search was conducted using the keywords autism, family, and parent in the national thesis center of the Council of Higher Education. The search was specifically focused on the topics of sports, physical activity, movement training, and exercise. The national database of the Council of Higher Education's thesis center was utilized as a tool for data collection. The analysis revealed that a total of 22 theses were written, comprising 17 master's theses and 5 doctoral theses. The analyses revealed that the minimum years for thesis writing were 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2020, while the maximum year was 2019. Furthermore, it was observed that the first study investigating the involvement of families of individuals with autism in sports, physical activity, movement training, and exercise was conducted in 2013 at the doctoral level and in 2015 at the master's degree level. When analyzing the theses published in both master's and doctoral fields, it is evident that male authors contribute more than female authors. The most commonly used research method is qualitative. Additionally, it is noteworthy that the majority of research advisors hold the title of professor. In terms of language, it is observed that in the master's field, only one thesis is written in English while the rest are in Turkish. Similarly, in the doctoral field, one thesis is written in English while the others are written in Turkish.

Author(s): Siti Faizah,Cholis Sa’dijah,Lathiful Anwar,Sudirman Sudirman,Ahmad Bukhori Muslim / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2024

Van Hiele's thinking level has an important role in understanding, interpreting, and determining the geometric thinking ability. However, the lack of technological products that can support Van Hiele's improvement in thinking level is a challenge in itself. One of the tools that can help prospective teacher students to reach Van Hiele's level of thinking is Augmented Reality technology. Therefore, this study aims to investigate Van Hiele's level of thinking through the intervention of Augmented Reality Digital Module Instruction (ADMI) using grounded theory design. The participants involved in this study were one lecturer and ten prospective teacher students who experienced difficulties in improving the level of Van Hiele geometric thinking. The data collected through observation, tests, and interviews are analyzed qualitatively through the stages of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. These research found that students who had difficulties in carrying out the first level of Van Hiele could use ADMI to overcome these difficulties; students can construct knowledge about 3D geometry; the success of students in completing the geometry test involves reasoning. This study emphasize that ADMI contributes to geometry learning because it can make it easier for students to reach the lowest level of Van Hiele.

Locul și rolul jocurilor didactice muzicale

Author(s): Lina–Ildiko MAGYARI / Language(s): Romanian Issue: Sp. Issue/2023

The didactic game is one of the most beloved methods in which emphasis is placed on the personal development of children. I wanted to create a personal approach to the theme proposed by the organizers. The report presents several games such as „Robingo”, „Puzzle”, „Circle ball” etc. The current curriculum is beneficial for the application of didactic games, and it is known that the framework is provided in the elementary cycle in the 3rd and 4th grades. Emile Jaques Dalcroze, Carl Orff, Lars Edlund, Kodaly Zoltan represent specialists interested in the effects of movement games in educational activities. I hope that this paper will be a point of reflection on how the personal connections between students can play a role in shaping the future generation.

Compulsive sexual behavior disorder: The importance of research on women

Author(s): Ewelina Kowalewska,Beáta Böthe,Shane W. Kraus / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

The current understanding of compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD) is primarily based on studies involving non-clinical samples of heterosexual men, resulting in significant gaps in knowledge regarding women with CSBD. The commentary highlights the domains where further research is necessary, including incidence and prevalence, etiology, diagnostic criteria, comorbidities, sexual patterns, personality profiles, and barriers to help-seeking among women with CSBD. Bridging this research gap is essential for improving clinical care, developing tailored interventions, and increasing awareness about CSBD in women among healthcare providers, policymakers, and the general public.

What makes children aged 10 to 13 engage in problematic smartphone use? A longitudinal study of changing patterns considering individual, parental, and school factors

Author(s): Changmin Yoo / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

Background and aims: The current research aimed to discover classification concerning problematic smartphone use in children. Furthermore, to investigate their longitudinal trajectories, as well as to discover the connection concerning problematic smartphone usage by individual, parental, and school factors. Methods: A total of 2,399 South Korean children who were in the 4th grade (female 1,206 (50.3%), age 10–13 years) at baseline. Latent class growth analysis was utilized to discover typologies in problematic smartphone use and their longitudinal trajectories. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to find various associations among problematic smartphone use and individual, parental, as well as school factors. Results: The results identified three distinct trajectories of problematic smartphone use: (1) a high-level group (7.7%), (2) a mid-increasing group (62.5%), and (3) a low-increasing group (29.8%). The increasing group showed the highest level of problematic smartphone use. Gender, self-esteem, social withdrawal, exercise, parental inconsistency, monthly income, and teacher support were significant predictors. Discussion and Conclusions: The findings suggest that there are distinct developmental trajectories concerning problematic smartphone usage of childhood. The results show that the early discovery of children in danger of problematic smartphone use and targeted interventions aimed at reducing parental inconsistency and social withdrawal, improving self-esteem, exercise, and teacher support may be effective strategies for preventing problematic smartphone usage during childhood.
