Author(s): Alisa Maхimova,Ekaterina Pavlenko,Ivan Pavlyutkin,Greg Yudin / Language(s): Russian Issue: 2/2015

The concept of the “sociological expedition” implies various forms of collaborative empirical research, for which ethnographic fieldwork serves as the fundamental model. While this form of training students (“education through research”) is still relatively rare in Russia, in recent years its visibility has grown and its organizers have become more experienced. We were interested in finding out how, in each particular case, the idea of organizing such training retreats for students developed. What are the peculiarities and practical difficulties involved in conducting this kind of research and training? Finally, what role in the educational process should such research expeditions play? Participants in the discussion below note the importance of collaborative field research to students’ professional socialization and reflect about their own experiences of such trips, expressing regret that academic institutions still do not sufficiently support the practice.

Appearance of Triangulation in Teacher Trainees’ Research Plans

Author(s): Sántha Kálmán / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

This study investigates the emergence of triangulation in teacher trainees’ research plans. The main objective of the research is to detect the inap¬propriate uses of triangulation to point out didactic aspects that can promote the efficiency of educators teaching research methodology. Participants in research methodology courses had to design and document a research process related to school or teaching in the form of a research plan. They had a free choice regarding the topic of the research. The coding of the text corpora amounting to 400 pages was done by combining deductive and inductive logic. The reliability of coding was ensured by intracoding. The results show that inappropriate uses of triangula¬tion can be described as misuse of terminology, false equivalence of triangulation and methodological triangulation, and false equivalence of triangulation and mixed methods. The problems encountered have a double feedback function. First, they give feedback for the academic course, second, after drawing the conclusions they also serve as self-reflection to form education activities and thinking.

The relations between the subjects from vocational and nature-mathematical cycles are broadly applied in solving practical tasks, in practicing already acquired competences and at the same time in provoking creativity. Moreover, they motivate students to acquire further knowledge in these fields. STEM-lessons – as an attractive teaching method, solve real problems and prepare the learners for a better realization in a real working environment. Зелена химия в училищната лаборатория

Author(s): Alexandria Gendjova,Alexandra Kamusheva,Maya Tavlinova-Kirilova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2019

Despite the great contribution of chemistry, its negative image in society is a serious problem. Green Chemistry (or Sustainable Chemistry) addresses the efficient use of raw materials and waste management and issues related to health, safety and the environment. It offers the opportunity to put ideas of sustainability into school practice. This paper examines the effect of the application of green chemistry in laboratory activities on the study of chemical processes for students in grade 10. For this aim “green” alternatives of traditional experiments on the subject are selected and adapted. The quality and applicability of the experiments and didactic materials are validated through an expert evaluation of 16 teachers. After implementing some of the experiments into the laboratory practices of 70 tenth graders, a survey was conducted with them. The surveyed students gave a high rating to the green attempts: in terms of their: safety, economy, related to everyday life, accessibility, attractiveness. Experimental activities of students lead to their engagement in chemistry classes and Chemistry becomes more interesting, more comprehensible and more accessible to them. The emphasis on green chemistry in laboratory work contributes to the development of environmental awareness and behavior. The attitude of the students towards the subject is improved because they see science in a new, better perspective, as friendly to the environment. It is an effective method of motivating students to study chemistry and influencing their attitudes and emotions towards sustainability and environmental issues.

NARAȚIUNI DESPRE LUME ȘI DESPRE NOI ÎNȘINE. CONSIDERAȚII DESPRE FUNCȚIA TERAPEUTICĂ A POVEȘTILOR

Author(s): Ioana Todor / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 2/2019

From immemorial times people create and use stories to relate and share experiences with others, to inform them, to organize their thoughts, to create their self-image, to know the world and to gain a sense of predictability, to obtain something from the others, to liberate from their own fears, to share joy or sadness, to express love or hate. Narrative psychology is a postmodern approach in psychology based on the assumption that human beings make sense to their world and perceive themselves through the narratives. Narratives are coherent mental structures people construct to organize actual and past experiences, memories, life histories, social and factual knowledge, actions, values, intentions and aspirations etc. The narrative approach(es) has(ve) broader implications in a variety of domains in psychology (such as psychological therapies, clinical, educational, developmental, social, health or organizational psychology). Biographical stories are used as therapeutic tools in experiential psychotherapy and rational stories are used in cognitive therapy. The aim of the paper is to identify and discuss from various theoretical perspectives the roles of narrative in mental functioning and psycho-social adaptation to life events.
