Классификация южнославянских списков Синаксаря по структурным и языковым особенностям

Классификация южнославянских списков Синаксаря по структурным и языковым особенностям

Author(s): Marina Vladimirovna Chistiakova / Language(s): Russian Issue: -/2018

The present article is focused on the classification of the South Slavic manuscripts of the oldest translation of the Synaxarion. The study is based on 15 copies dating back to the 13–16th centuries and containing texts from September to February. As a result of consistent analysis of the structural and linguistic features, four editions were distinguished. The Bulgarian edition consists of copies of Bulgarian and Serbian origin (Grig. 23, BAN 72, Rum. 319, SANU 53, Pog. 58, Hlud. 189, Рс 705, Hlud. 191, Srem. 323), whose texts, with certain exceptions, reflect the traditional translation of the Church Slavonic Synaxarion, known from the copy Sof. 1324. The Serbian edition includes four Serbian codices (Pog. 463А, Uvar. 70, HAZU III.с.6 and Wuk. 38), whose hagiographic articles have obvious linguistic and compositional differences. The editing of the oldest translation of the Synaxarion, which led to the appearance of the Serbian edition, might have been carried out in the Serbian written tradition. However, we should not exclude the possibility that these linguistic and compositional features were characteristic of the East Slavic copy of the Synaxarion, transferred to Serbia in the late 12th–early 13th century. In the Serbian medieval tradition, the Synaxarion was not only rewritten, but also edited, because the copy Wuk. 37 represents the shortened version of the Serbian edition. South Slavic copies of the Bulgarian and Serbian editions are based on different Eastern Slavic archetypes, suggesting that the copies of the oldest translation of the Synaxarion were transferred to the Balkans not less than two times.

Травелоги югославских писательниц первой половины ХХ века: в поисках идентичности

Author(s): Anna G. Bodrova / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2019

The paper considers travelogues of Yugoslav female writers Alma Karlin, Jelena Dimitrijević, Isidora Sekulić, Marica Gregorič Stepančič, Marica Strnad, Luiza Pesjak. These texts created in the first half of the 20th century in Serbian, Slovenian and German are on the periphery of the literary field and, with rare exceptions, do not belong to the canon. The most famous of these authors are Sekulić from Serbia and the German-speaking writer Karlin from Slovenia. Recently, the work of Dimitrijević has also become an object of attention of researchers. Other travelogues writers are almost forgotten. Identity problems, especially national ones, are a constant component of the travelogue genre. During a journey, the author directs his attention to “other /alien” peoples and cultures that can be called foreign to the perceiving consciousness. However, when one perceives the “other”, one inevitably turns to one’s “own”, one’s own identity. The concept of “own – other /alien”, on which the dialogical philosophy is based (M. Buber, G. Marcel, M. Bakhtin, E. Levinas), implies an understanding of the cultural “own” against the background of the “alien” and at the same time culturally “alien” on the background of “own”. Women’s travel has a special status in culture. Even in the first half of the 20th century the woman was given space at home. Going on a journey, especially unaccompanied, was at least unusual for a woman. According to Simone de Beauvoir, a woman in society is “different /other”. Therefore, women’s travelogues can be defined as the look of the “other” on the “other /alien”. In this paper, particular attention is paid to the interrelationship of gender, national identities and their conditioning with a cultural and historical context. At the beginning of the 20th century in the Balkans, national identity continues actively to develop and the process of women’s emancipation is intensifying. Therefore, the combination of gender and national issues for Yugoslavian female travelogues of this period is especially relevant. Dimitrijević’s travelogue Seven Seas and Three Oceans demonstrates this relationship most vividly: “We Serbian women are no less patriotic than Egyptian women… Haven’t Serbian women most of the merit that the big Yugoslavia originated from small Serbia?” As a result of this study, the specificity of the national and gender identity constructs in the first half of the 20th century in the analyzed texts is revealed. For this period one can note, on the one hand, the preservation of national and gender boundaries, often supported by stereotypes, on the other hand, there are obvious tendencies towards the erosion of the established gender and national constructs, the mobility of models of gender and national identification as well, largely due to the sociohistorical processes of the time.

Andrić and Bašagić in the Yugoslavian Key

Andrić and Bašagić in the Yugoslavian Key

Author(s): Šaćir Filandra / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

The different views on identity politics in Ottoman Bosnia presented by Ivo Andrić and Safvet-beg Bašagić in their respective doctoral dissertations stem from differences in the historical and socio-economic experiences of each of their respective religious and confessional communities. Andrić, oriented towards the future, perceives Bosnia from the perspective of a newly introduced concept of Yugoslav national unity that does not value diversity. Bašagić, romantically looking into the past, sees Bosnia through rose-coloured glasses. Both Andrić and Bašagić share distinct notions of their historical periods and allow for non-scientific influences to shape their academic discourses.

ANDRIĆISM: An Aesthetics for Genocide

Author(s): Rusmir Mahmutćehajić / Language(s): English Issue: 04/2013

Andrić’s fiction is closely identified with Bosnia and often taken for a faithful reflection of that country’s culture, social relations, and tragic history. Rather than reflecting Bosnian pluralism, however, his oeuvre undermines its very metaphysical underpinnings, in part because his works are so firmly rooted in the European experience of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From the perspective of a dominant modernity, certain cultures and peoples came to be presented as un-European, Oriental, and essentially foreign. Bosnia, which had always been a religiously plural society, now became one where ideological models excluded its Muslim inhabitants. In line with longstanding European practice, Andrić drew an image of the Bosnian Muslim as Turk and the Turk as Bosnian Muslim, converting the real content of Bosnian society into a plastic material for the ideologues of homogenous societies to use in modelling external and internal enemies that were essentially identical. This process required as its precondition the destruction of that enemy through a process described as the social and cultural liberation of the Christian subject. Over time, this exclusion took on forms now termed genocide. In creating this image, Andrić deployed narrative techniques whose function may fairly be characterized as the aesthetic dissimulation of our ethical responsibilities towards the other and the different. Such elements from his oeuvre have been used in the nationalist ideologies anti-Muslimism serves as a building block. In this paper, certain aspects of the ideological reading and interpretation of Andrić’s oeuvre are presented.

Fonetske osobitosti u djelu Mehmed-bega Kapetanovića Ljubušaka Istočno blago

Fonetske osobitosti u djelu Mehmed-bega Kapetanovića Ljubušaka Istočno blago

Author(s): Amira Šehić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 14/2018

This work is study of the phonetics characteristic in the book Treasure of Eastern which was published 1896 AD by Mehmed-beg Kapetanovic Ljubusak, and which this Bosniak writer made translating Arabian, Turkish and Persian proverbs into Bosnian language. This book Ljubusak made in the time of the fateful turning point in the expression style of the Bosniaks in literature and language, reflecting in coupling the culture of the East with the modern spirit of the West. This is very important to know because just few years before Ljubusak published Treasure of Eastern have been published Gramatic of Bosnian language (1890 AD) – a book that brought new gramatic and standard in Bosnian language. Also, very important moment for Ljubusak’s writing were Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic’s reforms and his language standards. Throughout whole book, Ljubusak (although his main goal was proverb translating into Bosnian language) introduced us thru proverbs with elements of folk poetry. The folk influence in Ljubusak’s work can be seen in a great number of expressive phrases, ornamenting expressions. The most importanat thing (which was the main leader in this work) is tendency of showing the way how Ljubusak’s language reflects the bond with the preceding heritage. Also, Ljubusak has showed that he was way ahead from the time when he made his books in a field of language and phonetics characteristics.

ORTOGRAFSKE KARAKTERISTIKE LJETOPISA MULA MUSTAFE BAŠESKIJE

ORTOGRAFSKE KARAKTERISTIKE LJETOPISA MULA MUSTAFE BAŠESKIJE

Author(s): Kerima Filan / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 49/2000

The paper deals with the orthographic features of The Chronicle written in the second part of the 18th century by the Bosniak Mula Mustafa Bašeskija in Turkish. Examples of lexical and grammatical morphemes noted down in a graphic picture different from the accepted Ottoman-Turkish orthography of the time are analyzed. Departures from the orthography in marking Arabic and Persian lexemes are relatively rare in The Chronicle. In this lexical layer, the mixing of different graphies is noticed in some places that in Turkish have the same phonic value. In marking Turkish lexemes and suffixes, in some places we can trace departures from the orthography of the time. The reasons behind this are various. In some examples, a double way of spelling is noted as a result of the mixing up of the graphemes having the same phonic value. This type of departure is easily noticed and does not affect the determination of the phonetic picture of the analyzed linguistic element. In some examples, the graphic differences are the result of mixing traditional orthography and spoken language. Such departures are interesting from the point of linguistic research because they reflect the real status of the language at that time. The spelling of some of the lexemes and suffixes reflect their phonetic picture in the Turkish language as spoken in Bosnia. Such examples are relevant for getting to know the dialect features of that speech. In the spelling of some lexical and grammatical morphemes, we can notice that the writer used the graphies being in use in the local Aljamiado literacy. So some of the phonemes were written down in the graphies having originally other phonetic values. Such departures are only of graphic nature and do not reflect real pronunciation.

PODIJELJENA POETIKA: HISTORIOGRAFSKA ETIKA I POSTMODERNISTIČKA ESTETIKA

Author(s): Amina Bulić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 16/2019

The paper analyses the features and elements of the poetics of the anti-war novel, their close connection with the “category of war letters” and the “poetics of testimony” on the example of the novel Grad u cvatu magnolije by Mehmed Pargan. The focus of the discussion is on the relationship between history and fiction, through which an attempt is made to clarify the connection between the ethics of a literary work and the aesthetics of historiography in the context of finding (literary) truth and cultivating collective memory. The paper points out the principle of composing and structuring the mentioned narrative, which is based on, as we defined it, divided poetics, poetics that is realized between the ethics of historiography and the aesthetics of postmodern fiction.

Stilističke odlike Hasan-agina performativnog iskaza u engleskim prijevodima bošnjačke balade “Hasanaginica”

Author(s): Amina Arnautović / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 24/2020

The paper problematizes the ways in which the performative speech act of the verses twelve and thirteen in the Bosniak ballad “Hasanaginica” has been interpreted and translated in its English target texts. The performative speech act is analyzed in the light of J. Austin’s Speech Act Theory, along with certain rules in Sharia law regarding irrevocable divorce (al-baynuna al-kubra). Aiming to raise awareness of the importance of style in translation, the paper further confirms the value of the results obtained through linguo-stylistic analysis of the texts involved.

PRIČA I NJENA SENKA (IVO ANDRIĆ "PISMO IZ 1920. GODINE")

PRIČA I NJENA SENKA (IVO ANDRIĆ "PISMO IZ 1920. GODINE")

LIJEVO ORIJENTIRANA SOCIO-POLITIČKA USTREPTALOST I ESTETIČKO-KRITIČKA MISAO DŽEMILA DŽEME KRVAVCA

Author(s): Ikbal Smajlović / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: XIX/2021

The paper provides a brief overview of cultural and socio-political circumstances in BiH from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, whose repercussions inevitably and strongly reflect on the overall literary and artistic creation in BiH, with special emphasis and focus on the literary criticism segment, the one with Bosniak determination. Although this paper offers a basic insight into totality of literary criticism creation between wars, revealing the general guidelines of its evolutionary and formative-qualitative paths, it is primarily focused on specific texts of Dž. Krvavac, which at the same time mirror and confirm the previously selected general characteristics – distinct underdevelopment of literary critical practice (at least in terms of systematization and scientific foundation according to modern standards), its conditionality of socio-political circumstances, hybrid form of texts which combines and unites different elements at the same time: literature (and art in general), ethics, politics, philosophy...

Srpski diskurs o Andriću

Author(s): Nenad Veličković / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian Issue: 6/2022

The aim of the paper is to ascertain whether there is a Serbian discourse on Andrić, according to the same criteria Zoran Milutinović uses in his book Bitka za prošlost to ascertain the existence of the Bosniak discourse. Approaching Andrić’s opus through the notion of collective trauma related primarily to the Ottoman and Austro‑Hungarian period in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the author presents in the analysis of books and articles by Nikola Koljević, Vuk Milatović, Rade Lalović, Predrag Palavestra, Vladimir Dedijer, Zoran Konstantinović, Milan Bogdanović and Isidora Sekulić that the Serbian criticism read Andrić in a manner similar to that of the Bosniaks.

CDA PERSPECTIVE ON THE REPRESENTATION OF POLITICAL ACTORS IN BIH IN THE POLITICAL DISCOURSE OF THE EU REPRESENTATIVES IN BIH

CDA PERSPECTIVE ON THE REPRESENTATION OF POLITICAL ACTORS IN BIH IN THE POLITICAL DISCOURSE OF THE EU REPRESENTATIVES IN BIH

Author(s): Kemal Avdagić / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

The paper focuses on the role of language in a specific socio-political context. It offers a critical approach regarding the representation of political actors in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) in press releases of the Office of the High Representative in BiH, for the period 2006 - 2011. The aim of the linguistic examination is to analyse the notion of the power imbalance between different actors and ideology which is subtly interwoven in the investigated discourse. There are three stages of analysis in the process of linguistic investigation. In the first stage of analysis, the linguistic investigation is carried out by the means of language tools provided by systemic functional grammar. At this stage, the text is analysed at three different levels: ideational, interpersonal, and textual. In the second stage, the logogentic patterns, which emerge as a result of the lexico-grammatical investigation, are further sifted by the analytical framework of critical discourse analysis. In the final stage of the investigation, the text, which is comprehended as a structure realized by clauses, undergoes a pragmatic investigation of presuppositions. The paper shows that the proposed threefold investigation of the text enables the deconstruction of the meaning of the text and at the same time provides an insight into the nature of the relationship between different actors involved in the discourse.

SLIKA HERCEGOVINE U BOSANSKOHERCEGOVAČKIM PUTOPISIMA

SLIKA HERCEGOVINE U BOSANSKOHERCEGOVAČKIM PUTOPISIMA

Author(s): Ena Begović-Sokolija / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 5/2022

The paper based on the example of the travelogues of ten Bosnian authors (I. F. Jukić, G. Martić, I. Andrić, H. Humo, Z. Džumhur, J. Beran, A. Isaković, I. Kajan, R. Mahmutćehajić, and A. Žetica) analyses the impressions and ideas about Herzegovina with the view of basic imagological assumptions. In order not to fall into an analytical dead end, it is irst necessary to place the authors in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian context and determine his literary-historical era, focusing on each individual text, keeping in mind precisely his genre (travelogue) and thematic region (Herzegovina). Travelogues as a privileged type of text for understanding of the “writing of the Other” or “writing about the Other” are a useful and thematically rich material, wherein the construction of images of Herzegovina is followed, without dealing with its veracity, but rather with its efectiveness in the cultural and communicational domain. he analysis shows that the problem of travelogue as a literary-historical phenomenon is still relevant, while the ofered imagological analysis could be one of the key prerequisites for the literary-historical approach. he chosen geographic area as the theme of the travelogues proved to be an interesting material for the study of the characteristics of national self-understanding. In this regard, the term he Travelogue Herzegovina was coined as a genre and regional concept.

PUTOPISNI PROSTORI ZUKE DŽUMHURA

Author(s): Mirzana Pašić Kodrić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 5/2022

To understand Džumhur’s travelogue space, that is, the way in which Džumhur’s travelogues grow into a story and go beyond classical travel prose, it is inevitable to understand the spaces of his travelogues. he end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century brought great shifts and fundamental changes in all genres of literature. he traditional understanding of literature as “beautiful literature” which insisted on a triadic system of literary genres divided into epics, lyrics and drama slowly began to lose its meaning just giving way to hybrid genre transformations and also in the novel and literature in general, not just in travel writing. hus, when it comes to travel writing, travel literature has proclaimed the so-called. the era of the “end of mere travel” and the traditional notion of what may once have been a travelogue, and began the era of travel as an escape into the space of text, the space of storytelling, far from the alienation and anxiety of the real world. Precisely in the endless genre intertwining, it is almost impossible to deine the poetics of travelogues.

ONOMASTIČKA ANALIZA KARABEGA

ONOMASTIČKA ANALIZA KARABEGA

Author(s): Nihada Ibrišimović / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 5/2022

In the context of the onomastic reading of Ibrišimović’s entire literary oeuvre, in which the name occupies a special place as a multilayered linguistic sign, the historical onomastic space is revealed in the novel Karabeg. The onomastic layer in the novel is conditioned by multiple historical determinants, temporal (change of Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina), spatial (Mostar), cultural (Ottoman cultural circle) and religious (Islam). Karabeg’s onomastic analysis also includes a contrastive analysis of names in Hifzija Hasandedić’s monograph entitled Mustafa-Sidki ef. Karabeg (1944), which served Ibrišimović as a template and impetus for literary formation. In addition to the semantic and structural aspects of the recorded noun categories in the novel Karabeg, the names are analyzed in terms of their authenticity, realism or ictitiousness, trying to point out the multiple pragmatic value and functionality of names in the novel.
