Вобраз героя ў аповесцях Андрэя Федарэнкі (на аснове кніг Ланцуг і Ціша)

Author(s): Anna Alsztyniuk / Language(s): Belarusian Issue: XXIII/2018

Andrey Fiedarenka (born in 1959) – author of the books: History of the disease (1989), Misery (1994), Afghan casket (2002), No one’s (2009), The Chain (2012), Silence (2014) and others, winner of many awards, including Jerzy Giedroyc Literary Award. The writer is considered a classic of Belarusian literature. In his artistic work, three basic types of heroes can be distinguished: inhabitants of villages, city dwellers and writers. The presentation of often difficult family relations, differences in characters and life priorities of the heroes become for A. Fiedarenka a pretext for deliberations on the subject of contemporary man’s life, his attitude towards people and nature. In his stories, the writer presents primarily people disappointed with life, lonely, seeking the sense of existence in contact with nature. Only hero-writers can be distinguished from the gallery of poor wretches.

Аўтабіяграфічная аповесць Развітанне з ілюзіямі: Васіль Быкаў вачыма Аляксея Карпюка

Author(s): Anna Sakowicz / Language(s): Belarusian Issue: XXIII/2018

This article analyses the memories about Wasyl Bykow (1924–2003), one of the most outstanding Belarusian prose writers Aleksy Karpiuk (1920–1992) included in the book Farewell to Illusions (2007). Particular attention is paid to the writer’s life in Grodno and his friendship with A. Karpiuk, an artist born in Straszewo in the Bialystok region, the author of many works describing the reality of the borderland of north-eastern Poland. A. Karpiuk truly describes twenty-two years shared with his friend in Grodno, in a period unfavorable for rebellious writers. The writer shows the personality of Bykow, focuses on the socio-political aspect of life in the second half of the twentieth century, but tactically ignores the private sphere. A. Karpiuk, on the occasion of describing the problems that the literary milieu struggled with, gives his own assessment of the socio-political situation in Belarus.

Нацыянальныя мастацкiя архетыпы ў творчасцi “белавежцаў”

Author(s): Anżeła Mielnikawa / Language(s): Belarusian Issue: 10/2018

The article is devoted to the national art archetypes in the works of “Belavezha” writers. The imagery of their poetry is constructed on both Pan-European archetypes of cultural field and national art archetypes. The specificity of the ideological and artistic-figurative system of works of “Belavezha” writers as a holistic aesthetic phenomenon is represented by the images of native land and home which were historically formed in the context of national culture. Artistic variations of home are manifested by the images of nest, hearth, roots. They help to understand the laws of the artistic functioning of the deep national-ontological layers of consciousness, convey the national-cultural features, the code of national ethics, and determine the type of cultural hero.

Надзея Артымовiч i Алесь Разанаў: жанрава-паэтычная прырода творчага дыялогу

Надзея Артымовiч i Алесь Разанаў: жанрава-паэтычная прырода творчага дыялогу

Author(s): Tacciana Alaszkiewicz / Language(s): Belarusian Issue: 10/2018

In this article, the author explores the question of the nature of the genre-poetic dialogue, in which N. Artymovich and A. Razanov take part. The author believes that Ales Razanov invents his own chronotopic picture of artistic consciousness: it seems that it is here and now the poet has a special vision of the inner subtext of Artymovich’s verses, which may be a logical response–continuation or auto-commentary to what has been read. Ales Razanov’s marginalia is an attempt to enter into N. Artymovich’s unread and misunderstood poems. The poet offers a reader a pattern, artistic paradigm of possible interpretation of his own literary texts. Such an understanding of poetic reality and an approach to the embodiment of close but strange words show the “marginal notes” of A. Razanov’s book “Дзверы”.

Valgevene folkloristika õnnestumised ja valupunktid 21. sajandil

Valgevene folkloristika õnnestumised ja valupunktid 21. sajandil

Author(s): Tatsiana Valodzina / Language(s): Estonian Issue: 75/2019

The article gives an overview of the achievements in Belarusian folkloristics in the 21st century, highlighting the most vulnerable areas in folklore research, and trying to understand the reasons and prerequisites for successes and shortcomings in folkloristics. The author is especially concerned about the shortage of professionals in the country to block the non-scientific publications. Although entertainment-specialised publications offer the reader exiting mythology, they also contain unsubstantiated generalisations made on the basis of traditions in a narrow region. This makes detailed research into folklore as a complete historical and cultural phenomenon the more essential. Therefore, Belarusian folklorists’ most important direction of work is the recording of the folk heritage, identification of the typology of the folklore genres, determination of the spread areas of song melodies, dances, plots, motifs, and images, and preparation of collections revealing the richness of the cultural landscape of the Republic of Belarus in its regional and local peculiarities. In 2013 the Centre of Fine Arts, Ethnography, and Folklore at the Belarusian Academy of Sciences launched an annual collection of scholarly articles under the heading Belarusian Folklore: Materials and Studies. The edition has already become a fruitful and interesting platform for discussing topical problems in folklore studies. The research covers the main directions of Belarusian folkloristics, and new approaches to study and understand the traditional world of Belarusian spiritual culture.
