Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes personality and activity of Kastus Kalinouski – famous revolutionary populist, leader of the 1863–1864 Uprising in Belarus and Lithuania. Contrastive analysis is based on novels written in the 1970s. It is argued that the artistic image of this person in analyzed works coincides. The authors appreciate his contribution and role in the national liberation struggle. The article indicates fundamental differences in the interpretation of this image by Belarusian and Belarusian-Polish writers.
