UCHENYE ZAPISKI KAZANSKOGO UNIVERSITETA (PROCEEDINGS OF KAZAN UNIVERSITY) AS A REFLECTION OF FORMATION OF KAZAN UNIVERSITY PHILOSOPHY IN THE PRE-REVOLUTIONARY PERIOD

«УЧЁНЫЕ ЗАПИСКИ КАЗАНСКОГО УНИВЕРСИТЕТА» ДОРЕВОЛЮЦИОННОГО ПЕРИОДА КАК ОТРАЖЕНИЕ СТАНОВЛЕНИЯ КАЗАНСКОЙ УНИВЕРСИТЕТСКОЙ ФИЛОСОФИИ

Author(s): Fanil Fagimovich Serebryakov / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: Kazan university philosophy; philosophical school of thought; history of philosophy; philosophical thought; philosophy in Russia; idea;

The article deals with the question of whether, in what sense and to which extent the journal Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta is an indicator of formation of Kazan university philosophy, allowing for the fact that it was in this periodical where some significant works of its many representatives in the pre-revolutionary period were first published. A list of works by the professors and privat-docents of the Kazan University Philosophy Department is presented. Though there are no grounds to speak about the existence of Kazan philosophical school, the list may be regarded as an expression of the breadth of Kazan philosophers’ scientific interests, and as an evidence that philosophical thought at Kazan University reached professional maturity rather quickly and rose to the European level in the best works.

“GENDER PASSIONS” BY NOTRE DAME DE PARIS: AN EXPERIENCE OF SOCIAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL GENERALIZATION

«ГЕНДЕРНЫЕ СТРАСТИ» У NOTRE-DAME DE PARIS: ОПЫТ СОЦИАЛЬНО-ФИЛОСОФСКОГО ОБОБЩЕНИЯ

Author(s): Larisa Mikhaylovna Bogatova / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: culture; gender; moral; monogamous marriage; same-sex marriage;

The article presents an experience of social and philosophical generalization of the most topical problems that have engulfed modern gender relations. Based on the events that occurred recently in France, we analyze the causes, peculiarities and contradictions associated with the legalization of alternative sexuality. We also make an attempt to identify social and cultural consequences of the changes that nowadays are being actively deployed in the area of family relations. Among these changes, destruction of traditional gender dispositions causes the greatest concern.

OPPOSITION OF TWO MORAL PARADIGMS: “LOVE FOR ONE’S NEIGHBOR” AND “LOVE FOR A DISTANT PERSON”

Author(s): Evgeniya Olegovna Dubrovnaya / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: morality; love for one’s neighbor; love for a distant person; suffering and compassion; death;

In this paper, we compare two moral paradigms existing in our society: “love for one’s neighbor” (or Agape), which has developed within the Christian ethical system, and “love for a distant person”, which is proposed by a number of philosophers. We try to show aspects that characterize positively the concept of “love for a distant person” as understood by F. Nietzsche and prove that this principle carries an active and creative basis, which allows a person to act in accordance with the ideals of love, justice and harmony. We also study in detail such philosophical categories as suffering and compassion, which define a person’s life in the ontological aspect.

MEDIA REALITY OF INFORMATION SOCIETY: DOES UTOPIA NEED REANIMATION TODAY?

Author(s): Lira Vladimirovna Zhigunina / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: media reality; real; utopia; mass media; communication media; ideology; S. Žižek; J. Baudrillard;

In this article the question on the nature of the media and their role in modern society is considered as one of the major problems of modern philosophy and media theory. The author makes distinctions between the terms media, media reality and mass media and looks into the issue of the real and the reality of the media. It is asserted that the utopian media (or the virtual media) may serve as the real media in terms of the range of opportunities. The author raises the problem of distortion of utopia in the media and concludes that the return of the media to their destination, i.e. to be a mediator between subject and the world, matter and idea, is only possible through the reanimation of utopia by its practical implementation.

“THE END OF CAPITALISM” AND THE FUTURE OF HISTORY: PROLEGOMENA TO THE POST-CAPITALIST SOCIAL THEORY

«КОНЕЦ КАПИТАЛИЗМА» И БУДУЩЕЕ ИСТОРИИ: ПРОЛЕГОМЕНЫ К ПОСТКАПИТАЛИСТИЧЕСКОЙ СОЦИАЛЬНОЙ ТЕОРИИ

Author(s): Konstantin Vladimirovich Kondratev,Anton Sergeyevich Krasnov / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: social philosophy; capitalism; political economy; post-capitalism; Marxism; socialism;

In this article an attempt is made to give a comprehensive critical analysis of the phenomenon of “modern capitalism” in the context of its existential being and further dialectical development. Synthesis and integration of the theoretical and methodological components of social philosophy, political economy, philosophy of language and descriptive metaphysics reveal essential and specific features of modern capitalist society. It is concluded that the internal contradictions of the very essence of modern capitalism will inevitably lead to its elimination. In this regard, the problem of finding a theoretical alternative to the post-capitalist development of the society is raised.

THE ROLE OF SUBLIMATION IN THE PARALLAX BETWEEN SYMBOLIC AND SCIENTIFIC-AND-HISTORICAL TYPES OF THINKING

Author(s): Aleksei Borisovich Lebedev,Kirill Nikolaevich Gedz / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: sublimation; symbolic thinking; paradigmatic thinking; syntagmatic thinking; scientific-and-historical thinking; parallax; Christian ethics; attraction to death; object petit a; trauma;

The article aims to disclose actual historical and cultural value of the parallax method of thinking through the study of its sublimation nature. The authors show that the phenomenon of sublimation, which was described in its ontological aspect already by S. Freud, is also of fundamental epistemological value. In the course of historical development, sublimation processes pass from the unconscious form to the reflexive one. The latter is considered in the article through the examples of symbolic and scientific-and-historical types of thinking. The authors come to a conclusion that parallax thinking may serve as a way to preserve and reproduce the values of traditional societies in modern secularized conditions.

THE TAOIST AND BUDDHIST INTERPRETATION OF THE ESSENCE OF CREATIVITY

Author(s): Raushaniya Husainovna Lukmanova,Anatoliy Igorevich Stoletov / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: creativity; Buddhism; Zen Buddhism; Taoism; existence; reality; emptiness; improvement; art;

The article deals with the understanding of creative process from the point of view of the Eastern doctrines. The authors examine the ontological aspects of creativity (i.e. “emptiness”, organicity, naturalness and non-purposefulness), appealing to the concepts of Buddhism, Zen Buddhism and Taoism along with the works of Western experts in art. The idea is advanced that the essence of creativity consists in the immersion in the fullness of existence (nirvana, Tao), which is revealed by means of the eternity-instant of artistic reality.

SOCIAL KNOWLEDGE IN DISCURSIVE PRACTICE

Author(s): Elina Borisovna Minnullina / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: discourse; communication; speech act; perlocutionary act; concept of the “third world”; objective knowledge; transcendental pragmatics;

The article shows that social knowledge is generated in communicative action and cannot exist prior to or outside the boundaries of the discourse space in which the action is carried out. The impact of accumulated knowledge on human society is explained not by its existence as a hypostatized sphere of the “third world”, but by the fact that the perlocutionary effect is actualized in a speech act as the articulation of a discourse. Discourse as a cohesion between text and context (extra-linguistic reality) is a purview of social patterns and norms.

PROFESSIONAL PHILOSOPHICAL DISCOURSE AND RHETORIC

Author(s): Sergey Aleksandrovich Nikitin / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: rhetoric; sophistry; dialectics; writing; technology; professional discourse; human discourse;

This paper is devoted to the transformation of the modern professional philosophical discourse. The causes for its transformation are as follows: 1) the uncertain position of philosophy in the changing system of higher education and 2) the use of new technologies to produce a philosophical text. The purpose of the paper is to describe the main consequences of these causes, namely the reconsideration of the relationship between rhetoric and philosophy, and the rehabilitation of sophistry. The mutual influence of these two processes makes it possible to evaluate the changes in the modern professional philosophical discourse. The main conclusion of the study is the assumption that modern philosophical studies as compared with the usual academic standards imply personal participation, openness of the audience and unpredictability of the results.

THE CONCEPTS OF SUBJECTIVITY DEVELOPED BY KAZAN PHILOSOPHERS IN THE LATE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURIES

Author(s): Olga Yuryevna Poroshenko / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: Kazan philosophy; subjectivity; transcendental existentialism; E. Bobrov; V. Nesmelov; K. Sotonin;

The article investigates the concepts of "metaphysical individualism" (E. Bobrov), “alive subjectivity” (V. Nesmelov), and “being beyond experience” (K. Sotonin), which represent an attempt to integrate the traditions of transcendental and existential philosophy. The analysis of E. Bobrov, V. Nesmelov and K. Sotonin’s “non-classical” views allows us to embed these philosophers in the Russian tradition, which was historically represented in Kazan by N. Lobachevsky, N. Vasiliev, and V. Khlebnikov.

ANCIENT SOCIAL UTOPIA AS A PARADIGM OF SOCIAL UTOPIA

Author(s): Yuliya Dmitriyevna Smirnova / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: ancient utopia; predicates of utopia; social utopia; social philosophy;

In this article, we analyze the works of ancient literature in terms of the presence of utopian elements in them. We formulate characteristic features of ancient social utopia and reveal the main predicates of utopia (such as obligatory presence of an author, search for the ideal in the past or in the future, creation of a unique language for a new utopian state, etc.) on their basis. We conclude that ancient utopia may be called a paradigm of social utopia as such.

THE DEVIL AND SVYATOPOLK: THE LIMITS OF THE AUTOCRACY OF A SOUL SUB SPECIE DEMONOLOGY

Author(s): Mikhail Leonidovich Tuzov / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: reasoning; logic; sinful thought; devil; entry; free will; theological opinion; ontology of evil; Boris and Gleb;

Based on the example of two texts from Boris and Gleb’s hagiography, we carry out a comparative analysis of the reasoning logic of Old Russian authors for solving the issue on the relationship between the devil and human thoughts. In this relation, we consider how the life stories under study present the role of the devil in the formation of Prince Svyatopolk’s villainous intentions. As a logical consequence of the practically opposite solutions provided in these works, several possible answers to the question on man’s free will arise, i.e., whether it is consistently free or limited in its freedom (particularly, under the influence of evil forces).

CULTURAL IDENTITY AS A VALUE: H. RICKERT BETWEEN TRANSCENDENTALISM AND HISTORISM

Author(s): Linar Ilshatovich Farkhutdinov / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: identity; transcendental subject; historical subject; relativism of values; cultural values; normative consciousness; categorical imperative; value pluralism; psychological reduction;

This article examines the phenomenon of cultural identity from the standpoint of the Neo-Kantian doctrine of Heinrich Rickert. Rickert’s philosophy of values is presented as an attempt to combine consistently transcendentalism and historism. The author seeks to show Rickert’s theory of cultural values in comparison with Kant’s philosophy, Dilthey and Simmel’s philosophy of life, and the views of Max Weber. Understanding of this historical and philosophical context, in which Rickert’s doctrine was formed, helps to evaluate the heuristic potential of his ideas. The author believes that this potential is not yet exhausted and may serve as a source of overcoming the crisis of modern Western cultural policy.

NON-SENSELESSNESS OF ABSURD AND LIMITEDNESS OF STRICT THOUGHT

Author(s): Aleksey Nikolaevich Fatenkov / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: subject; world; human being; meaning; thought; absurd;

The article sketchily presents an ontognoseological concept based on the following theses. The world is originally full of sense, and absurd is born to the world with the appearance of a human being. Absurd is not a piece of nonsense, but a strange combination of meanings. The value of absurd is not only negative, but positive as well. No thought, even the strictest one, is deprived of absurd. The article states that it is absolutely impossible to get rid of absurd by purely rational means, that is, within predominantly cognitive attitude to the world.

CONTRADICTIONS IN THE USE OF THE TERM MASS AND ITS SYNONYMS IN THE WORKS OF THE THEORISTS OF MASS SOCIETY

Author(s): Svetlana Sergeyevna Fedchenko / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 1/2014

Keywords: mass; crowd; public; mass society; elite; mass man;

This article deals with the semantic content of the terms mass, crowd and public as considered by the researchers of the 20th century. The problem of contradictions among the systems of different researchers as well as within one and the same concept is raised. This study gradually proves the absence of any unified theory of mass since the theorists of mass society explore different concepts and phenomena. The causes of incorrect confusion regarding the meanings of the terms crowd, mass and public are analyzed.
