Personal Mimesis vs. Educational Mimesis

Personal Mimesis vs. Educational Mimesis

MIMESIS PERSONAL VS. MIMESIS EDUCAŢIONAL

Author(s): Éva Monica Székely,Bogdan Raţiu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 14/2013

Keywords: (re)lecture of images; visual arts and literature; visual literacy; hermeneutics and semiotics; intertextuality

Starting from concept of personal mimesis of American researcher Jerry Varsava, this paper will explore issues surrounding educational mimesis as relationships between personal mimesis vs. significant mimesis, between texts – books and images in visual literacy in regard to theory and praxis. Perspectives are sought from those engaged in the fields of education, visual arts and literature, on issues related to the interconnections generated from intertextuality.

Disclosure and Hiding Online. Pleading for Prevention of Online Violence among Teenagers

Author(s): Maria Diaconescu / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2011

Keywords: Online interaction Self-disclosure Trustworthiness Controllability Self-protection Preventing online and offline violence by empathy and assertiveness training

The present paper discusses disclosure, hiding and self protection in the current online interactions among teenagers. It focuses on disclosure of inner feelings and attitudes, and hiding as a form of self protection online. We explore more specific the following questions: How the feelings and attitudes are disclosed and understood online when teenagers use instant messenger; For what do teenagers choose to disclose themselves on instant messenger and control the conditions of their interactions online? The qualitative research method we used to explore the mentioned questions was the offline and online interview. Two hypotheses emerged and are presented as the results of this study. These are analysed, illustrated by teenager’s responses, discussed and on hand to be verified with statistical method in further quantitative research. Reduced nonverbal cues online reduce the accuracy of empathic understanding which do not stop teenagers to disclose and develop sympathy online. Teenagers choose to disclose themselves online in order to get and/or to maintain a sense of belongingness, to get help or to exercise assertiveness and self-confidence. They learn to control the conditions of their online interactions in order to play with each other or to protect their selves from potential hurts and unwanted intrusions: they choose either to gossip, attack or to hide them online. The present study pleads for action research and building social programs in order to prevent online and offline violence.

Manifestation of religious values in the family

Manifestarea valorilor religioase în familie

Author(s): Dorin Opriş / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 3/2010

Keywords: family; religious values; a model of religiosity; religious education; research; religion as subject matter

Manifestation of religious values in the family. To say that family is an important factor of children education is a truism. Too often, when it comes to religious education in the family we tend to look at things superficially or even to eliminate essential items which are disturbing for the spiritual well-being of the parents who tend to place full responsibility on this key dimension of education only on schools and church. In the research we conducted we have proposed to identify not only the share of religious education that comes from parents toward children, but also how children become missionaries in their family, by applying knowledge learned in religious discipline. In the research were involved 336 students in grades IX - XII of three high schools in Alba Iulia. The research has proposed to test the following hypothesis: the religious life of the family is built using models of religiosity, which can come both from parents to children and from children to parents, especially in the context of the presence of religion as a subject matter in schools. Student responses to the 10 items of the administered survey highlight several aspects of how religious values are manifested in the family.

WHAT BOOKS’ HEROES READ

WHAT BOOKS’ HEROES READ

Ce citesc eroii cartilor

Author(s): Adrian Mihalache / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 58/2006

Keywords: virtual world; literature as self-delusion; Don Quixote libros de entretenimiento; libros de entendimiento; Cervantes; Hamlet; Prospero; Shakespeare; Francesca da Rimini; Paolo Malatesta; Dante; Anna Karenina; Proust; Ducess of Guermantes; W.S. Maugham; I

Enumerating literary characters that read certain books – such as don Quixote, Hamlet, Anna Karenina, to mention only a few of the telling examples the author gives from the numerous works of world literature along the centuries – the author comments on the virtual world of literature – a dangerous one – as a means to evade reality, on literature as a creator of an alternative world, on reading as self-delusion, as a lucid text analysis or as a means to understand an unbearable reality.

Obvious Talent. Artistic Performance

Obvious Talent. Artistic Performance

Author(s): Irina Scutariu / Language(s): English / Issue: 17/2014

Keywords: interactivity; project; Mihaela Michailov; Katia Pascariu; community

When something is obvious and numerous conjunctural elements help point this out, then it is your duty to show what you can do. For an actor, this obvious thing is called talent. The conjunctural elements refer to a script – monodrama – that represents the actor, which provides him the possibility to present himself in various artistic hypostases that point out his talent. This year, respecting once again the tradition, at the 9th edition of ”Gala Star” - the International Festival of Dramatic Recital, there have been presented variations on the same theme: one man show and one woman show conceived in different manners. As a matter of fact, this type of theatre provides numerous possibilities of expression and construction. The dramatic recital can result from poetry recital, moments of pantomime, one or more dramatic characters interpreted by only one actor, with the responsibility of proposing an interesting subject to the audience.

"Provocation to tolerance": Esthetic Paradigm and Recovery of Values - Literatorul - the Magazine, between 1991-1992

„Incitarea la toleranţă” : paradigma estetică şi recuperarea valorilor - Literatorul – anii 1991 - 1992

Author(s): Nicoleta Ifrim / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 12/2013

Keywords: literature; critical discourse; aesthetic strategies; text ideology

After 1989, the Romanian critical discourse enhances two major points of view in coping with re-reading the literary values: on one hand, the revival of the political-ethical criterion used in interpreting the Romanian “classics” and, on the other, the focus on the aesthetic axiology when dealing with the literary texts written within the totalitarian age. During 1991-1992, the Literatorul revue promotes an aesthetic non-ethical reading strategy, analyzing the literary inner structure and universe focused on as an autonomous fiction totally independent to the author’s ideological and moral profile.

The Narration Force and the Nature Force- About Doderer's "The Waterfalls From Slunj"

Erzählgewalt und Naturgewalt- Zu Doderers "Die Wasserfälle von Slunj"

Author(s): Urlich Dronske / Language(s): German / Issue: 11/2002

The SDP's Electoral Limits: The 2014 Presidential Elections

The SDP's Electoral Limits: The 2014 Presidential Elections

Limitele electorale ale PSD în alegerile prezidențiale. Cazul 2014

Author(s): Daniel Buti / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 183/1/2015

Keywords: presidential elections; electoral mobilization; party organizational structure; electoral pool; political representation

The article represents an analysis of the 2014 presidential elections, trying to highlight the primary cause for the outcome of electoral competition, in which the certain favorite (the candidate of the SDP-NUPR-CP electoral alliance) failed to win. Beyond the sociological explanations of the final results, one of the reasons for which Victor Ponta repeated the experience of former presidents of the SDP (M. Geoană and A. Năstase) concerns the ability of the party’s structure to attract votes. Given the current organizational structure, as well as the current relations and internal operating mechanisms, the SDP has reached, on November 16, 2014, its maximum electoral potential.

The Romanian Bard: A Case Study of Shakespeare’s Adaptations in Contemporary Romania

The Romanian Bard: A Case Study of Shakespeare’s Adaptations in Contemporary Romania

Author(s): Dana Percec,Andreea Şerban / Language(s): English / Issue: 19/2012

Keywords: William Shakespeare; adaptation; assimilation; Romania; local culture; theatre

In Romania, Shakespeare played an important role in the construction of Romania’s cultural identity and in the reshaping of political awareness during the communist dictatorship. In recent years, the Bard’s work has been translated into a contemporary, accessible Romanian language, with theatrical or musical adaptations targeted at a public whose tastes are shaped by popular culture. The authors discuss, from this perspective, two recent adaptations: The Taming of the Shrew (2005), acclimatized to contemporary Romanian realities (names, locations and folk music), and Romeo and Juliet (2009) that relocates the tragedy in the musical genre. The choice of two musical genres popular with the most widely spread segments of the public – the conservative, but less educated middle-aged group of non-theatre-goers and the youth – indicates an attempt, still new for the Romanian cultural market, to accommodate Shakespeare to the interests of two different communities of consumers, so far absent from this country’s high culture circuit.

Letter to Romanian members of the European Parliament

Scrisoare adresată membrilor români ai Parlamentului European

Author(s): Author Not Specified / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 1/2014
