Person to Person: Relationship in the Poetry of Tony Harrison

Person to Person: Relationship in the Poetry of Tony Harrison

Author(s): Monica Marin / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2007

Keywords: person; estrangement; personal pronoun; distancing; participation

In this article we will demonstrate that the way in which the grammatical categories of person (first, second and third) are distributed across Harrison's poem "Long Distance II" emphasizes its basic theme of estrangement, of loss of person to person contact.

The sociolinguistic scenario for the teaching of Italian. Problems and challenges

The sociolinguistic scenario for the teaching of Italian. Problems and challenges

Lo scenario sociolinguistico per l’insegnamento della lingua italiana. Problemi e sfide

Author(s): Monica Mosca / Language(s): Italian / Issue: 1/2013

Keywords: Italian L2; glottodidactic; multilingualism; sociolinguistics of migration

The recent migration flows have changed the linguistic balance in some European countries that are more exposed than others. Italy is among them. The Barcelona Agreement states basic rights for the promotion of all linguistic varieties, but language differences may represent a barrier to human promotion. Unfortunately, immigrant students in Italian schools accumulate delays in their career, even if they are of second generation (born in Italy), and this is due to hindering linguistic competences. Thus the teaching of Italian as a foreign language at school in such a situation of new multilingualism requires the activation of dynamic teaching techniques more oriented to communicative skills than to grammatical rigor.

Psychometric Properties of the Romanian Version of the Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire: Preliminary Data

Psychometric Properties of the Romanian Version of the Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire: Preliminary Data

PROPRIETĂŢI PSIHOMETRICE ALE VERSIUNII ROMÂNE A CHESTIONARULUI DE PERSONALITATE ZUCKERMAN-KUHLMAN (ZKPQ): DATE PRELIMINARE

Author(s): Adrian Opre,Monica Albu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 8/2010

Keywords: ZKPQ; personality questionnaire.

The Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire (ZKPQ) was developed to define and assess the basic factors of personality, expressed in a new model. The guiding assumption for this model (Alternative Five-Factor Model /AFFM) was that basic personality traits are those with a strong biological-evolutionary basis. AFFM emerged from a series of factor analyses based on data collected, mainly from psychobiological research. In the present paper we have assessed the psychometric properties of a Romanian translation of ZKPQ. The questionnaire was administrated to a total sample of 825 subjects (305 male and 520 female) with age range from 18 to 54. The data collected were used in order to test the reliability and validity for the Romanian sample. The results revealed a good consistency of all the scales and good construct validity. In the same, time, by making comparative analyses with other language versions, our data demonstrate a good cross-cultural reliability of the questionnaire. All findings proved the Romanian version of the ZKPQ is a reliable tool to assess personality’ structure and process for research and assessment purposes.

Issues Regarding the Teritorial Jurisdiction Courts to Settle the Right Conflicts

Aspecte privind competenţa teritorială a instanţelor de judecată de a soluţiona conflictele de drepturi

Author(s): Marioara Ţichindelean / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 02/2008

Keywords: competence; jurisdiction; territorial jurisdiction; exclusive territorial, jurisdiction; labour conflict; employer; employee; trade union; home/ residence/ headquarter of the complaint.

At present, according to art. 284, paragraph 2 from the Labor Code regarding the settlement of labor conflicts – the jurisdiction of law courts in the settlement of conflicts of rights belong to the court of law in the district where the claimant has his headquarters/residence, domicile or residence. This provision repealed implicitly the provisions of art. 72 Law nr. 168/1999 and stipulates derogatory jurisdiction from the common law, establishing the regulation according to which the jurisdiction belongs to the court of law in the district where the claimant has his domicile or residence, or headquarters. The solution of the legislator is considered positive, just/impartial and in flavor of the employees or trade unions in position of claimant. This regulation also aims to facilitate the access of employees to justice/law, favoring them as against their employer, taking into consideration the fact that in most cases the claimant in labor conflicts is the employee. The jurisdiction of the courts of law in the settlement of labor conflicts is exclusive; it can be eliminated neither by the parties, nor by the court of law.

ONE YEAR WITHOUT OSAMA BIN LADEN: A CULTURALIST APPROACH ON THE „CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS” BETWEEN WEST AND ISLAM

UN AN FĂRĂ OSAMA BIN LADEN: O ABORDARE CULTURALISTĂ A „CIOCNIRII CIVILIZAŢIILOR” OCCIDENTALĂ ŞI ISLAMICĂ

Author(s): Cristian Barna / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 2/2012

Keywords: “Clash of civilizations”; Islamic fundamentalism; West; culture

A large part of the aggressive and militant attitude of the Arab world against the current world order can in fact be explained by the old fear of being absorbed by the West. This is the political, social and cultural framework, used by sympathizers of Islamic fundamentalism to promote the idea that many of the social realities exported by the Western civilization through globalization cannot be accepted in the Arab world, being just a provocation leading to its degradation, and in the end insuring the hegemony of the West. Fortunately, it has by now become clear that a great majority of Muslims haven’t the slightest desire to join the Jihadist movement. It appears that the Muslim world is experiencing a trend, if not a unanimous consent regarding the fact that Muslims should renounce violence, as this only leads to hatred against Muslims everywhere.

The involvement of the parish in the religious education of children and young people. Case study: "Nativity of the Mother of God" parish in Braila

Implicarea parohiei în educația religioasă a copiilor și tinerilor. Studiu de caz: parohia „Nașterea Maicii Domnului” din Brăila

Author(s): Sorin Marinescu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 15/2017

Keywords: educational-catechetical activities; Christ offered to children; children; youth;

Beginning with 2005, the Romanian Orthodox Church has intensified its educational-catechetical activities with children and youth, by initiating programs, projects and competitions at local, regional or national levels. One of these programs, Christ offered to children, has become, since 2008, by the Decision of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the National Catechetical Program for children and youth. The Romanian Patriarchate proclaimed the year 2016, as Solemn Year of Religious Education of the Christian Orthodox Youth and Commemoration Year of Saint Hierarch Martyr Anthimos of Iviria and of Church Typographers. In the context of current secularisation, when traditional values are weakened and education is subject to changes of paradigm, young people need support from Family, Church and School, since only through proper orientation and by promoting authentic models they will be able to discern between current challenges and future perspectives.

The use of the harpoon in Gumelnița culture, case study: the habitat of Bordușani-Popină (Ialomița county)

L’utilisation du harpon dans la culture Gumelniţa. Etude de cas : l’habitat de Borduşani-Popină (departement de Ialomiţa)

Author(s): Monica Mărgărit,Dragomir Nicolae Popovici,Florin Vlad / Language(s): French / Issue: 1/2011

Keywords: neo-eneolithic;, harpoon; antler; processing techniques;

For the Neo-Eneolithic of the Romanian territory, the harpoon represents the type of a11ifact belonging to the bone industry on which we have mast information. The lot we had at our disposal for this study, coming from the settlement from 13orduşani-Popină, is made up of22 harpoons (coming from the diggings of the period 1991-2008), of which two can be considered pieces that were in the course of processing. ln this study we have tried to identify the way how the raw matter was obtained, turned into finite pieces (processing techniques), then the economy of these finite pieces (the ways how they were used and their role in the economy), and finally the eventual repairs of the fractured pieces and their reintegration in the economy of the community. We have provided as well a series of experimental or ethnographic examples, in order to illustrate the fact that the general denomination of harpoon is incorrect, when extended to designate all the points with hooks. The ethnographic comparisons themselves, which at first seemed to offer the key to the way how these weapons were used (in the context in which they have not reached us integrally, as they have no handle, which we might be not yet able to identify among the archaeological remains), complicated the discussions, proving that a prey can be hunted in different ways and the same weapon can be used with different methods.

1965 – 1966. An exercise

1965 – 1966. An exercise

1965 – 1966. Un exercițiu

Author(s): Andrei Rosetti / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: LIX, 2/2020

Keywords: curator; dictatorship; communism; socialist; realism; painting; biennial; culture; exile

Let's take a Romanian Labor Party general secretary recently elected, an official of the Italian Foreign Ministry, a cultural attaché, an embassy secretary, an exhibition curator, an art critic, a musicologist recently released from political detention, a young and gifted writer still unpublished, a literary critic living in exile, a few painters and an architect and, why not, a kind of collective character detached from an exhibition guest book. Romania – Italia / 1965-1966. Ceaușescu, Zagari, Niță, Mureșan, Comarnescu, Bogdan, Brauner, Petrescu, Lovinescu, Fontana, Burri, Morandi, Campigli, Scarpa and Gherasim - these are the “authors” of our sketch. The exercise we are proposing is to try to reconstruct the atmosphere of the 1965 - 1966 years, starting from these different points of view noted in official archives files, in personal diary notes, or in the national security service documents. Starting from such different angles we believe that we will have an image about the aspirations and potential of those years, in terms of the cultural dynamics and trends. The 1965 and 1966 years are turning points for Romania. An intense period for Paul Gherasim as well, a gifted painter and a future cultural entrepreneur. Starting from 1968, he will organize a series of art exhibitions in various cities of Romania. These exhibitions are the subject of my doctoral research. Following comparative perspectives and seeing himself as a poet rather than a curator, Gherasim will search correspondences between distant periods in our art and culture, in order to reveal a voice, a collective timbre. I hope the exercise prposed here will help us to understand some of Paul Gherasim's future poetic and conceptual options.

The Dawn of the 9th Console Generation: The Scalpers’ Heaven

Author(s): Miroslav Macák / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2020

The ‘jump’ from one console generation to the next is one of the most anticipated events in the world of digital games. The new hardware opens up possibilities to develop games that were not feasible on their predecessors, especially allowing even more convincing visuals. With both the Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S that have been recently released, we have now made our first firm steps into the ‘next generation’ of gaming.
