The Cultural Cold War in Romania

The Cultural Cold War in Romania

Author(s): Nicoleta Sălcudeanu / Language(s): English / Issue: 12/2012

The most important strategies, in Romanian culture, after the World War II, were designed at Paris. Communist ideology being rightly considered the main enemy of culture, the answer of exile, through its peaks, was also ideological, but opposite in sign. If the intellectuals from the country were "resisting through culture", the exile abroad assumed the role of a strong anti-communist militancy.

The conciliation of collective labour conflicts

The conciliation of collective labour conflicts

The conciliation of collective labour conflicts

Author(s): Iulia Bădoi / Language(s): / Issue: 06/2013

Keywords: the legal framework; amiable resolution procedure; mediation; arbitrage; strike.

The present article envisages presenting the conciliation as a resolution procedure for the conflicts of interests/collective labour conflicts. The conciliation was stipulated as a resolution procedure for the conflicts of interests/collective labour conflicts even from the first acts that regulated this domain, being foreseen as a mandatory phase within the process of solving this type of conflicts. The subject of conciliation was approached before within the doctrine, from this juridical institution development point of view, the used research methods being the observation and the comparative analysis. The legislator adapted the procedure for the resolution of conflicts of interests/ collective labour conflicts in accordance with the social and economic development of the labour relations and identified other means of resolution, such as the mediation, the arbitrage or the strike, when the conciliation didn’t lead to the end of the conflict. The present paper aims is to realize an assessment over the historical development of the labour conflicts conciliation and to draw up a study on the statistical data concerning these conflicts. The study may be used within the research activity, its contribution being set up by the updated presentation of the statistical data and on the legislation within the field of labour conflicts conciliation.

ALISTAIR WELCHMAN (ED.), POLITICS OF RELIGION/RELIGIONS OF POLITICS, SPRINGER, 2015, 191 P.

Author(s): Monica Meruțiu / Language(s): English / Issue: 3/2016

The collective volume Politics of Religion/Religions of Politics, edited by Alistair Welchman , Associate Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and Classics at the University of Texas at San Antonio, comprises most of the papers that were initially presented during a workshop dedicated to and benefitting from the presence of Simon Critchley , at the same University back in February 2010. The participants in this event had the opportunity to both analyze different aspects related to Simon Critchley’s work as well as various other topics emerging from his work. Beyond the great variety of analyzed topics and perspectives presented the reader notices also the common grounds and convergence of most of these articles embodied and represented by Critchley’s analysis of the intersection of politics and religion, the way these two realms impact each other and consequently the transformations affecting both politics and religion.

Processing Unio Sp. Valve for Adornments at the Gumelnița Communities (Mill. V BC): Archaeological and Experimental Data

Author(s): Monica Mărgărit,Valentin Radu / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2021

Keywords: Gumelnița culture; Unio sp. valve; personal adornments; technical transformation sequence; experimental replica;

Valves of the Unio sp. processed to be made into personal adornments are discovered from several settlements of the Gumelnița culture (the second half of the fifth millennium B.C.). These assemblages include pieces in different phases of transformation, from irregular splinters to finished pieces in the shape of circular beads used as personal adornments. In this study, the raw material was interpreted as local, obtained as a by-product of the gathering process. Among the food waste products from the few settlements, the Unio sp. valves are well-represented quantitatively, their nutritional contribution being quite substantial. In order to identify the costs invested in the manufacturing of items of this type, both in terms of time and effort, we have developed an experimental program allowing us to record all the variables (raw material acquisition, technological stages, time recorded for each operation, tools used, evolution of the wear following the usage, etc.). Finally, the items were put together in a bracelet, tracking the evolution of the surface wear and of the perforation, which would allow us an evaluation of the use of archaeological pieces.

THE UNIVERSE OF CHILDHOOD IN THE WRITINGS OF IONEL TEODOREANU IN PERPESSICIUS VISION

Author(s): Claudia-Cristina Dolea-Panaite / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 17/2019

Keywords: Ionel Teodoreanu; La Medeleni; childhood; eternity; symbolism;

Ionel Teodoreanu is one of the Romanian writers who are responsible for the enchanting atmosphere in which many of us, the ones, who read his books have spent childhood with the characters of La Medeleni.Growing up under our eyes, Monica, Olguța and Dănuţ became our siblings, confidentials or life models in whom we find some of our personality traits and we fashion ourselves to resemble as much as possibile to the sweet and shy little, Monica, to the fiary Olguța or to the fearless Dănuț. Obviously, times have changed, we grew up, and now we are facing a tense moment in our literature, in an attempt to retrieve Ionel Teodoreanu in the eyes of the ones who did not appreciate him in order to protect his name.
