Risk Sharing in Infrastructure Project Finance

The subject of this study is to try to model the Islamic project finance methods of the long-term operation and financing processes of capital-intensive infrastructure projects. The research aims to create a model with mathematical formulas by considering the project finances on a measurable level. What is the project financing that can be considered under this roof while we are preparing our research, which is the framework of infrastructure projects? Can infrastructure projects be carried out in accordance with Islamic rules? Can Islamic infrastructure finance models be modeled mathematically? A core analysis was made by going from general concepts to specific by trying to find answers to their questions. While the research is evaluated from an Islamic perspective, it is emphasized that the two most common problems in long-term project finances are preventing the formation of the concepts of interest and obscurity (garar). In this direction, the research was evaluated in two ways and the project contract was evaluated separately for the parties. Stochastic processes formulated with the concept of measurability were theoremized with the data obtained and mathematical proofs of these theorems were made in the research. As we move towards the conclusion of the research, our model, which is also proved by theorems, and the maximum number of possibilities that we can use our formulas are evaluated, the necessary analysis is made within the framework of these possibilities, numerical examples are given, and all variations are explained by schematizing under appropriate conditions. The fact that the real data required by the mathematical method we used in our research is not published openly and surveys etc. Since it is not possible to obtain the data in different ways, some projections were made with the limited data obtained, and the data set was tried to be expanded. In our research, it has been determined that infrastructure projects are mathematically measurable, verifiable and modelable by using risk sharing methods in accordance with Islamic rules.

It is seen that the Republic of Turkey has not been able to carry its economic development to the level of developed countries after the bitter experiences it has had at home and abroad since its establishment. It is of great importance to realize technological transformation in order to stand against the deadlocks imposed by globalization on countries. According to the 2022 TUIK figures, high technology exports in Turkey are still at a very low level at 2.6%. Turkey needs to show development in every aspect specific to its geography, while doing this, realizing technology transfer through economic integrations will provide benefits in terms of time and cost and will save time in the formation of a qualified workforce. For this reason, our study is aimed to determine the policies that Turkey will implement in terms of time and cost by analyzing the effects of the EU and ASEAN as economic integrations on the technology transfer to be realized by Turkey. Thus, we think that it will contribute to our literature together with the sincere studies prepared for Turkey to take place in the league of developed countries.

Effects of Banking Regulations on Banking Performance

One of the important sectors of financial markets is the banking sector. For this reason, the banking sector is one of the sectors that dominate the market in terms of its effects. One of the most important factors expected to affect the sector is the banking regulations put into practice by regulatory authorities and policy makers. By minimizing risks, banking regulations ensure continuity in performance improvement and stability of financial markets. In this context, it is important to examine the effects of banking regulations on the performance of the banking sector. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the effects of banking regulations on the performance of the banking sector. In the study, the effects of basic banking regulation indicators determined as capital adequacy, liquidity and total provisions on banking performance indicators were examined. The generalized moment method was applied with the annual data of the banking sectors of Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey, which have different development levels, for the 2010-2019 periods. In the literature review, it is observed that banking regulations have positive and negative consequences for countries with different levels of development. For this reason, it is foreseen that the regulations to be made by the regulatory authorities and lawmakers, taking into account the country and sector differences, will be more beneficial. According to the results obtained from the study, the effect of capital adequacy, which is one of the most important indicators of regulations, on banking performance has been significant and positive in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. This shows that although the development levels and sector performances of the regulations are different, the effects of the regulations on the banking performance are generally positive for the countries.

Budget Right and Democracy: Empirical Evidence from OECD Countries

The right to budget, means that the public has a say in the determination of expenditures and revenues, which are public financial decisions. In this context, the existence and effective functioning of the budget right is a definite expression of the will of the people in a country. Democracy, on the other hand, is a form of government in which sovereignty, including financial decisions, belongs to the people. In the historical process, as the right to budget has developed, democracies have also developed. The budget right has been used for many years on behalf of the people, by the representatives elected by the people. However, in periods when representative democracy is in crisis, the use of the budget right is damaged. In the light of the relevant literature, this study argues that democracy and the right to budget express interrelated and complementary processes. The increase in democratic values facilitates the establishment and use of the budget right. Based on the idea that there is a democracy deficit in an environment where the right to the budget cannot be exercised, an answer is sought in the dimension of democracy to the question of how the right to the budget can be improved. Evidence is provided that the implementation of transparency, participation and accountability, which is linked to the basic principles of democracy and strengthens the right to the budget, both strengthens the democratic structure and facilitates the exercise of the right to the budget. In this study, the effect of democratic values on the right to the budget was examined through an empirical analysis. The data of 19 OECD member countries on the open budget index, democracy index, political stability index, per capita income variables for the period 2012-2021 were analyzed through panel regression analysis. As a result of econometric analysis, a positive and significant relationship was found between budget transparency and democracy. It has been observed that the relationship between budget transparency and democracy, which expresses the research subject and the main hypothesis, is supported. It has been concluded that more democratic countries provide more budget transparency and consequently facilitate the use of the budget right. Similarly, a positive and significant relationship was found between other independent variables discussed in the study and budget transparency, and evidence was obtained that these factors also contribute to the budget transparency process.

Basic needs for food supply, which stands at a very important point between sustainable gastronomy to prevent possible problems activities play an important role. Sustainable gastronomy, in other words, eco gastronomy, can provide help for current and potential problems due to the philosophy it supports to carry gastronomic activities by protecting human health, transferring food cultures to future generations, maintaining environment and being compatible with nature. Scientific research reveals that 3 children die of hunger every minute in the world and one of every 3 plates we eat is thrown away. It is also stated that the most wasted food item from the plate is bread. At this point, it is extremely important to be aware of the fact that goods and services are means of meeting needs, and to have individuals who can use resources correctly and choose the goods and services that are suitable for themselves or their needs. In this study, sustainable gastronomy trends in Turkey and in the world are included, the issue of waste and bread waste is examined with a broad perspective and presented to the reader in an understandable language. In addition, practical information is given to prevent breads from getting stale in homes and businesses, and sample recipes are presented as a solution for stale breads. While applying the recipes, different types of breads were used to provide a unity in terms of taste, texture and visual presentation, and recipes were created that tasters could not easily understand that there was bread in it. In all of the recipes in the book, care has been taken to ensure that recipes with bread can be made without requiring any effort other than making the same recipe without using bread. The information and descriptions in this research; It has a high importance in terms of appealing to business owners, sector employees, teachers/students in institutions providing education on food and beverage, everyone who enjoys spending time in the kitchen and raising awareness about sustainable food.

Effects of Financial Development, Democracy and Human Capital on Income Distribution

Although there are many empirical studies examining the effects of financial development on economic growth performance of countries, the impact of the increased national income as a result of financial development on the low-income segments of society and income distribution is mostly ignored. In addition, it is also well-known fact that there are contradictory arguments about the impact of financial development on income distribution. However, according to the hypothesis called "financial Kuznets hypothesis" which has been introduced in recent years, in the initial stages of financial development, high asymmetric information and the high cost of accessing financial resources deteriorates the income distribution. Along with the maturation of the financial system, access to financial resources of the low-income segment is facilitated therefore income distribution is positively affected. To sum up, according to this hypothesis, an inverted U-shaped relationship exists between financial development and income inequality. This study aims to examine the validity of the financial Kuznets hypothesis for the period of 1990-2013 for 23 developing countries. In this direction, it is aimed to examine the effects of economic growth, democracy, human capital and financial development on income inequality. For this purpose, panel unit root, panel cointegration, panel FMOLS long-run coefficient estimator and panel causality tests are utilized to examine the relationship between mentioned variables. As a result of the empirical analyses, it is seen that when the findings are evaluated on the basis of the panel, increasing national income, democracy level and human capital accumulation reduces income inequality. Furthermore, it is found that there is Ushaped relationship between financial development and income inequality and therefore the existence of financial Kuznets hypothesis is not confirmed.

Spatial Effects in Expansionary Policies

In an analysis, if cross-sections consist of geographical regions, the existence of spatial interactions of contiguous units should be investigated. Because it is thought that close areas affect each other. In this study, it is investigated that how government expenditures affect the GDP growth per capita in Europe for the period 1997-2016, via models considering spatial dependency. Eventually, increases in government expenditures increase economic growth in all models. Fixed effects panel data, random effects panel data, fixed effects spatial lag, random effects spatial lag, fixed effects spatial Durbin, random effects spatial Durbin, fixed effects spatial error, random effects spatial error, generalized random effects spatial error and general spatial models are examined. As results of Hausman tests, it was seen that random effects model is efficient in all models. Lagrange Multiplayer (LM) test showed that not only spatial lag and spatial error models are significant, but also the general model is significant. Between these models, the general model which contains also spatial lag and spatial error model either, has the maximum Lagrange Multiplayer (LM) test statistic. As for spatial Durbin model, the coefficient estimates of explanatory variables multiplied by spatial weight matrix are found statistically insignificant. Consequently, the politicians who want to achieve full employment in Europe, can increase the government current expenditures. Besides, they should take into account the situation in neighbor countries. Because, the coefficients indicating spatial autocorrelations are positive. As areas approach to each other, they more affect each other.

Kitabı teşkil eden bölümlerin girişimcilik konusunun ilginç ve farklı yönlerini vaka uygulamaları çerçevesinde ele alarak girişimcilik ve yönetim organizasyon yazınına son derece değerli bir katkı sunmaktadır. Islamic finance, with its asset and risk sharing construction, is seen as having more powerful structure than interest banking in terms of both reducing systematic risks and having a strong communication with financial sector and real economy. As these banks, called as financial banking in Turkey, are working according to financial model based on real trade; turning these banks into more resistant than deposit banks against various shocks of banking sector, the most of which is non-performing loans. These non-performing loans are the most important sign of the qualities of banks. The increase of non-performing loans effect banks and real sector negatively. This book is analyzing the factors that specify non-performing loans of participation banks according to Islamic participles and determine the differences with deposit banks. Also this book, the indicative of non-performing loan that is the most important problem in participation banks which are active in Islamic finance field are identified and put a new complexion on the sector.

Today, the environmental conditions, technology, types of diseases, spreading rates and human, social and economic effects of health institutions are changing at a dizzying pace and becoming more complex and more uncertain. This state of change and uncertainty can be faster and more devastating than in the past. This situation forces health institutions to review their working conditions and systems, change and innovate. It has become a necessity to continuously improve the patient safety culture and patient care quality among the development and adaptation efforts of health institutions. In this book, the variables of patient safety culture in general; patient care quality variables of team climate, safety climate, job satisfaction, stress perception, management perceptions and working conditions; It is aimed to determine whether the reflectivity dimension has a mediating role in the effect of interpersonal quality, technical quality, managerial quality and environmental quality. In the study, it was aimed to determine whether the effect of patient safety culture on patient care quality and reflectivity and the perceptions of healthcare professionals regarding patient safety culture, patient care quality and reflectivity differ according to demographic characteristics. 718 healthcare professionals working in public and private healthcare institutions across Turkey participated in the research. Model 4 mediation method developed by Hayes was used to test the research hypotheses. As a result of the research; It has been seen that patient safety culture has a positive effect on patient care quality and reflectivity. Reflectivity affects the quality of patient care. The mediating role of reflectivity in the effect of patient safety culture on patient care quality has been determined. In addition, it has been observed that there are statistically significant differences in patient safety culture, patient care quality and reflectivity perception levels of healthcare professionals according to the variables of gender, geographical region, work sector, profession, position and professional seniority.

The global financial crises and the resulting bankruptcies of large enterprises have once again emphasized the importance of financial information. Risk made up of the result of financial information which includes substantial mistakes will cause lower national productivity due to increased resource costs,wrong investments and credit cards. Since fraud and irregularities cause important economic and social problems, many measures are taken within the scope of possibilities on a global and local basis. In this context, businesses activate auditing bodies such as internal audit established within the business in order to minimize the fraudulent financial reporting they experience. The internal audit activity's position in the organizational structure, training, personnel knowledge, familiarity with management policies and operating procedures, and an understanding of business conditions and the internal control environment enable them to identify and evaluate indicators of fraud that indicate potential fraud and fraudulent financial reporting. In this study, information about internal audit and fraudulent financial reporting techniques is given by using the literature, and it is aimed to analyze the effect of internal audit on awareness of fraudulent financial transactions. The data of the research was obtained by applying a questionnaire, the research questionnaire was applied to the independent auditors working in 150 independent auditing companies operating throughout Turkey, including KAYIK, and data were collected from 112 participants. First of all, Frequency analysis, difference tests, and explanatory factor analysis were carried out in the research questionnaire. Afterwards, reliability and validity analysis was performed for the analysis of the construct validity, and correlation analysis was applied for the testing of the hypotheses. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that internal audit has a significant effect on the awareness of fraudulent financial transactions. In addition, in the last part of the thesis, a model including all variables was proposed by using the PLS SEM method and presented as an additional analysis.
