Between. Polish-Ukrainian Interdisciplinary Studies

"Pomiędzy. Polish-Ukrainian Interdisciplinary Studies"—starting in 2023, this is the continuation of the journal Pomiędzy. Polish-Ukrainian Academic Studies. Up to 2023, it was published as a quarterly focused on interdisciplinary and comparative research in modern knowledge regarding Polish and Ukrainian literature, language, film, theatre and drama, philosophy, history, as well as anthropology and the sociology of culture and literature. Currently, it is published semi-annually.

With the change of the Editorial Board, the journal's thematic scope was expanded to include the fields of political science and administration, security studies, and international relations. Pomiędzy. Polish-Ukrainian Interdisciplinary Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal with an interdisciplinary profile, dedicated to the cultural, social, and political relations between Poland and Ukraine, and broadly—the transformations occurring in the Central and Eastern European region.

The journal provides a forum for presenting research in the social sciences and humanities, integrating political science, cultural studies, historical, media, and educational perspectives. A significant element of the journal's publishing potential is its ability to document and popularize the results of joint academic initiatives between the scientific communities of both countries. Published thematic issues present, among other things, the results of seminars and research projects concerning contemporary challenges of the region, such as disinformation, information security, and the functioning of the education system under the conditions of the war in Ukraine. The pages of Pomiędzy also publish analyses regarding institutional cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian universities, as well as reflections on the development of joint research and educational projects.

The journal has clear international potential, resulting from the participation of researchers representing numerous scientific centers in Poland and Ukraine on its program council and editorial team. An important element of internationalization is also the multilingual character of the periodical—articles are published in Polish, Ukrainian, and English, which facilitates broad participation of authors from various academic backgrounds.

At the same time, Pomiędzy possesses significant social and culture-forming potential. The published texts address the issues of historical memory, intercultural dialogue, social changes, and contemporary political challenges of the region. Thanks to this, the journal serves as an important platform for reflection on the shared cultural heritage of Poland and Ukraine, and contributes to building lasting relations between the scientific communities, cultural institutions, and societies of both countries.

The journal is the result of long-term scientific cooperation between three universities: [Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv] (Faculty of History), [Ivan Franko National University of Lviv] (Faculty of Philology and Faculty of Culture and Arts), and the [University of Wrocław] (Institute of Polish Philology and Department of Ukrainian Studies of the Institute of Slavic Philology, Faculty of Philology). Currently, the development of the journal is co-supported by the [University of Szczecin] (the Editorial Office is located at the Institute of Political Science and Security Studies of the University of Szczecin), [Maria Curie-Skłodowska University] in Lublin, and the [University of Silesia] in Katowice, whose representatives have joined the Editorial Board.

The base of Ukrainian universities cooperating in the creation of subsequent thematic issues has also been expanded. These include representatives from the [Zaporizhzhia National University], the [Donbass State Pedagogical University], the [Ivan Franko National University of Lviv], and the [Poltava State Agrarian University].

Alongside original, previously unpublished analytical and synthetic texts corresponding to the thematic profile of the journal, we invite submissions of reviews and overviews, as well as reports and information regarding significant domestic and foreign scientific events.
