Summary/Abstract: In a world where information flows like an untamed stream and digital media permeate almost every aspect of everyday life, societies are becoming particularly susceptible to information manipulation. Contemporary armed conflicts, such as the war in Ukraine, are not limited to the military dimension - they are equally intense in the information space. Disinformation, propaganda and fake news play a significant role in shaping public opinion, influencing attitudes, behaviors, decisions of citizens and moods prevailing in societies. The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of disinformation related to the conflict in Ukraine on social mechanisms of perception and reaction. The paper will focus on discussing the psychological conditions that increase susceptibility to manipulation, the role of social media in the spread of false content and the consequences of disinformation for social trust, political moods and citizens' sense of security. In the context of the growing threat of disinformation, developing media and digital competences that enable conscious and responsible use of information is becoming crucial. The work will also address issues related to media education, which plays a key role in shaping the selective thinking of recipients.
