Summary/Abstract: Fr. Aleksej Mečev was canonized as a saint during the Great Jubilee Synod of the Russian Church in 2000, by the Moscow Patriarchate, as a charismatic priest who dedicated his whole life to the ministry of his parishioners. Always ready to help the people solve the practical and material problems they faced he became a contemporary example of sacrificial love and pastoral care.
