Summary/Abstract: In the context of rock spirituality or mysticism, generally perceived in terms of biochemical processes and closely related to the counter-cultural expansionof the second half of the 1960s, I will present the spiritual and artistic profile of Van Morrison: one of the most consistent advocates of mystical ideas inthe broadly understood rock culture, who, however, steered clear of “instant mysticism”, typical for that culture. Instead, he starts from William Blake andstrives towards understanding mysticism as the sacred harmony of the universe –– unlike The Doors leader Jim Morrison, who takes Blakeian topics towards a decadent catastrophism.
