Summary/Abstract: Verbal communication represents a language skill which is necessary for the individual to function fully and properly in the society. Language acquisition by the child as well as speech development in its perceptive, expressive and interactive aspects tends to take place in the family in the first years of life and is based on linguistic and communicative interactions distinctive of the given community. The paper analyzes verbal interactions of a 3-year-old boy in his home environment in order to establish their kind, frequency and quality. The article also assesses the level of his communication skills in speech against the background of general development of the child.
