Summary/Abstract: The work of the speech therapist and the patient with disorders of the voice should consider purposes, established in the deliberate way, best with the active participation of the patient. Aims include both the prevention, as well as the diagnosis, the forecast and therapy proceedings. The awareness of the purpose is not only helping determine needed specialist examinations or conditioning the selection of appropriate procedures, methods and the strate-gy of speech-therapy proceedings. Along with the self-reflection of the patient with disorders of the voice and the knowledge about his psycho-social needs, awareness of the purpose should also lead the sick person for raising the quality of life.
