Summary/Abstract: Through bans, deprivation of liberty, physical and mental torture and even the application of capital punishment in dramatic scenarios, the oppressive authorities considered that they could stop the spread of Christian values and principles and, implicitly, the acquisition of a human model of living in a new attitude, marked by love, compassion, tolerance and altruism. One of the hardest periods in the history of the Church in Eastern Europe, and not only, was the holding of political power by communist-socialist regimes that firmly manifested their hostility to the Christian faith and its manifestations in public.
