A Polemic Unpublished Romanian Text: The Saying of Christian Law with Answer. Short General Presentation

Summary/Abstract: The socio-cultural and multi-confessional context of the XVIIth century Transylvania presents us the moments of a theological and historical polemics generated by the release of the books with heterodox content, distributed among the Romanian people. This study emphasizes the content of the manuscript entitled: The Saying of Christian Law with Answer, kept in the Library of the Romanian Academy (manuscript no. 4148), putting accent on some moral aspects. The manuscript represents one of the last phases of the Orthodox-Calvin polemics generated by the publication of Calvin Catechism (1642) and the successive answers published in the content of the books: Answer against the Calvin Catechism (1642) and Shield of the Catechism. Insufficiently investigated until now, the content of the previously mentioned manuscript presents some of the inter-confessional problems that were the object of the moral and spiritual debates between the priests and the singers that helped them. The research presents the context of the publication and of some not well known aspects of its content.
