Value added trade in the European Union

Summary/Abstract: Changes in the global economy, including the extension of production chains, influenced the size and commercial structure of EU countries. The aim of the paper is to analyse the changes in trade measured in traditional and value added way in EU countries by selected industrial sectors in the years 1995–2014. The study used data from the TiVA database to show changes in value added trade. The analysis showed increasing differences in trade data measured in traditional and value added way and the growing role of global value chains.
