Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to determine the possible directions of change in the architecture of international security, which in the second decade of the 21st century is the result of intensification and reinforcement of threats mainly from international terrorism, fallen states, massive emigration to Europe of civilian population from regions affected by armed conflicts, as well as irresponsible politics of countries with power aspirations. Since the end of the Cold War, international security policy has clearly become complicated. Instead of two opposing blocks, which kept each other in “check”, ensuring at the same time the order and stability of the international security architecture, many actors have appeared today, whose cooperation or lack of it depends on security in the global dimension. The current wars in Syria and Ukraine are evidence of how difficult it is currently to undertake joint actions in the context of solving crisis situations and overcoming conflicts. At present, threats have become comprehensive and interconnected with each other creating a very dangerous “system of connected vessels”.
