Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to answer the question to what extent selected motivationsand preferences of adult students (described in the andragogical literature)are used by the higher education institiutons in the process of building a competitiveposition (on the example of postgraduate studies).The starting point for further considerations is implementation one of the marketingconcepts, unique selling position (USP), in the area of institutional analysis of highereducation.
