Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present internationalisms and loan words in the context of teaching Polish as foreign language. The first part of article defines internationalism and loan words, basing on various (mainly German) classifications. The difference between an internationalism, a loan word, and a false friend is shown in the paper. The second part of the article handles not only possible problems that can occur while learning Polish as a foreign language, but also helpful suggestions, which can be used in teaching phonetics, morphology, and the vocabulary of the Polish language.
