Summary/Abstract: The article characterizes the specific perception of space (territory) by the Russians andattempts to define a favorable variant of Russian geopolitics in the early 21st century.Attention has been paid to how the understanding of space widespread in collectiveconsciousness affects the geopolitics of the country. In the case of Russia it may, to someextent, make it difficult for the state to use its full potential. At the beginning of the21st century, attempts are being made to gradually depart from the traditionalgeopolitical currents in the direction of new solutions in the economic and culturalspheres. They can be a chance to enter the path of development.
