Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to verify the thesis formulated in the title. In order to achieve it, own research carried out among 229 members of U3A in Nowy Sącz was used. The empirical part of the work was preceded by theoretical considerations of free time, elderly people as market entities and specification of their needs.
