Notes on Contemporary Transformations of the Epistolary Fiction

Summary/Abstract: The present article intends to point out how a literary movement can fundamentally reshape a genre not necessarily from the ideological standpoint, but mostly from the perspective of the aesthetic of forms. The article frames the epistolary manifestations in the Romanian culture, with accent on one specific contemporary novel, Se înnoptează. Se lasă ceaţă. At a primary level of interpretation, this novel displays a tendency towards recuperating a genre that is poorly represented in Romanian literature.
