Summary/Abstract: The present paper proposes a comparative and contrastive analysis of some thematic coordinates in two Romanian novels, generally assigned to the epistolary paradigm. The two texts belong to Costache Olăreanu (Avionul de hârtie/ The Paper Plane, 1983), respectively to Mihai Zamfir (Se înnoptează. Se lasă ceaţă/ It is getting dark. It is getting foggy, 2006). The main line of argument tries to demonstrate that the epistolary genre is very much in line with the much highlighted recycling postmodernist strategies, supporting an overall movement towards recuperation of a genre absent in the Romanian literature.
