Summary/Abstract: The following article deals with the issue of the war in Afghanistan, bringing forward the central idea of legitimacy/legitimization. Thus, starting with challenging some few aspects justifying the switch in the politics of the U.S. in Afghanistan, we shall frame an analysis regarding the state of affairs in this part of the Middle East. The operational concepts due to be summoned in the following are aspects regarding the war, conceived as an anthropological sum of socio-cultural variables, facts regarding the identity factor among the people of Afghanistan and certainly a small inquire about the Taliban issue. Last but not least it should be mentioned that the overall attempt is that of putting together all the out coming conclusions in order to answer to the critical concern regarding the legitimacy of the war in question.
