Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is an attempt to answer the question if, and if yes, to what an extent we can talk about the relation of antonymy as regards adjectives and nouns naming and defining taste. An introduction to considerations on relations between tastes is the presentation of research opinions to be found in the literature of the subject (A. Nagórko, A. Markowski and J. Apresjan). The author of the article makes a conclusion that we can only talk about the contextual antonymy with reference to taste lexis. On the basis of various quotations characterizing old and modern Polish, the author presents in what complex opposition relations, changing with history, the differences between tastes were shown. The following contextual adjective oppositions are discussed: sweet (e.g. sweet-sour), sour (e.g. sour-unleavened), bitter (e.g. sweet-bitter), salty (e.g. salty-non-salty).
