Education – a factor for the sustainable deveiopment of national security

Summary/Abstract: Traditional perceptions and knowledge are mainly associated with military force, which the army and police are called upon to use to preserve the country's territorial borders, sovereignty, internal order, and security. In post-industrial society, knowledge about security is enriched with new socially significant dimensions in which non-military force and education are of key importance. The presentation outlines the key characteristics of the Bulgarian education system and their impact on the national security system. Through its activities in training, educating, and socializing human capital, education occupies a prominent place among the factors that determine the sustainable development of national security.
