The icon of the archangels' council by the Samokov painter Zakhary pop Hristov Radoykov at the north door of the iconostasis in the revival church "Assumption of the blessed virgin Mary", Ihtiman

Summary/Abstract: This study was written on the occasion of 100th anniversary of theological studies in Bulgaria, the 190th anniversary of the church in the town of Ihtiman, built in 1835. The main focus is the icon of the Archangels’ counsil from the north door of the iconostasis, painted in 1879 by Zachary pop Radoykov from Samokov. The text includes a theological and iconographic analysis, and parallels with the plot in the Samokov Art School are also presented.
