The fresco image of the mother of God Akathist in the Revival Church "Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God" in the town of Ihtiman

Summary/Abstract: This study was written on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of theological studies in Bulgaria and the 190th anniversary of the church in the town of Ihtiman, built in 1835. The article examines the scenes presented as mural images which are partly the figurative equivalent of the Prayer Hymn of Praise – Akathist to the Virgin Mary. These frescoes are among the examined monuments of monumental church painting with the plot from the period of the Bulgarian Renaissance in the Dissertation on the topic "The Akathist of Virgin Mary in Bulgarian Church Painting during the Renaissance".
