Summary/Abstract: This study was written on the occasion of 100th anniversary of theological studies in Bulgaria, the 190th anniversary of the church in the town of Ihtiman, built in 1835. The main focus is the icon of the St Georg and St Dimitar from the south door of the iconostasis, painted in 1879 by Zahary pop Radoykov from Samokov. The text also emphasizes the connection between the images of the two warrior saints and St. Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen and includes theological, iconographic analysis and parallels with the plot in the Samokov Art School.
