Summary/Abstract: In the context of a tense political situation in the country, corruption remains one of the most acute and systemic problems affecting the functioning of institutions and the public trust. Bulgaria has ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which constitutes a key international instrument providing definitions of various forms of corrupt practices and guiding states toward the adoption of the necessary legislative and other measures to criminalize certain acts when committed intentionally. This paper examines the extent to which these provisions correspond to the formulations and sanctions stipulated in the Bulgarian Criminal Code, with the aim of assessing the degree of harmonization between the international framework and national criminal law
