Folk Ensembles in Bulgaria and Their Role in the Development of Folk Song

Summary/Abstract: The processes of professionalizing musical folklore, promoting it, and bringing it to the concert stage began with the programming of Radio Sofia. However, Bulgaria also needed to present its authentic heritage to the world, aiming to preserve this invaluable stock of folk creations as much as possible and to emphasize their uniqueness. With this conceptual platform, professional folk song and dance ensembles were created, incorporating the triad of Bulgarian musical folklore – song, instrumental music, and dance – into their compositions.
