DYNAMICS IN DEMAND FOR ROAD FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION ON THE EUROPEAN TRANSPORT MARKET

Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the dynamics of demand for road freight transport in the European transport market, tracking trends in the quantities of goods transported by road, the volumes of work performed and changes in the average distance traveled per ton of cargo. The analyzed period (from 2015 to 2024) covers the time before and after the onset of the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and ends with the increase in geopolitical instability in Europe, caused by Russia's military actions against Ukraine. The main objective of the study is to track and analyze the dynamics of demand for road freight transport in the European transport market over the past decade and, on this basis, to make recommendations for its sustainable future development.
