Summary/Abstract: Ethanol contained in alcoholic beverages, together with caffeine, are among the world's most widespread tolerated addictive substances. Excessive and long-term consumption can lead to an addiction called alcoholism, which is associated with whole groups of harmful effects. The other side is the purely individual consequence of excessive alcohol consumption, which is a hangover. One way to alleviate the symptoms of a hangover is to show a sufficient supply of fructose and rehydration. Probably worse influence on the course of hangover have congeners - chemicals, impurities, formed during fermentation in alcoholic beverages.
