Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the transfer of modernity, focusing in particular on cultural and institutional transfers in the Balkan countries. The author highlights the interaction between tradition and modernity, analyzing the impact of transfers on the construction of the former and post-Yugoslavia after the fall of the Communist bloc. The study examines the various actors involved, as well as the obstacles to such transfers in the light of relevant experiences.
