The Ecological Footprint of Romania's Population and the Analysis of the Impact of the Ecological Footprint on the Quality of Life in the European Union

Summary/Abstract: This article explores the significant challenges posed by climate change and its impact on human health, emphasizing the importance of understanding associated phenomena and the necessity for immediate and effective measures. Concepts such as global warming and ecological footprint are utilized to assess the pressure exerted by human resource consumption on the biosphere. The study analyzes the ecological footprint of residents in Romania, highlighting significant disparities and underscoring the need for awareness and collective action to reduce negative impacts on the environment and natural resources. The calculation of ecological footprints and analysis of collected data in this study reveal substantial differences among counties in Romania and their residents' consumption habits. Additionally, the article addresses the interconnection between ecological footprint and quality of life within the EU. It emphasizes evaluating the impact of CO2 emissions from new cars on quality of life, expressed through the indicator of healthy life expectancy. The article suggests implementing measures to shift consumer consciousness and behavior towards promoting a more sustainable lifestyle. Consequently, the article underscores the importance of a correct approach and awareness of climate challenges to build a balanced and prosperous future. It highlights the need for collective global efforts to reverse negative trends and contribute to a more equitable and environmentally respectful society.
