Summary/Abstract: The text is concerned with the way people participating in speech therapy can be named.There is a lack of unanimity on this issue among researchers of language communicationdisorders and speech therapists-practitioners, as well as among participants of speechtherapy. The undertaken analysis encompassed the following commonly used names:patient, client, student. Searching for the best term, the etymology of these words waspresented, as well as their meaning range, examples of usage and contexts in which theterm is applied. An attempt was also made to indicate the most appropriate term fornaming a person participating in speech therapy.
