Summary/Abstract: This article presents the Jewish cemetery in Švihov, a small town in South-West Bohemia, focusing on the types and styles of the tombstones. The cemetery was founded in 1644 and contains some remarkable examples of 17th century tombstones of Prague style, with elaborate architectural and ornamental features. The later tombstones, from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, are more rustic and simple, but have a natural charm and some typical symbols of Jewish tradition. The article also analyzes the inscriptions and epitaphs of the tombstones, which provide some information about the deceased and their origin. The Jewish cemetery in Švihov is an interesting and valuable monument that deserves more attention and appreciation.
