Summary/Abstract: The problem of the hiddenness of God is becoming an increasingly discussed philosophical topic. In my article, I would like to deal with the issue called by Jacek Wojtysiak (in his book Między jawnością a ukryciem [Between Hiddenness and Openness]) (Wojtysiak 2023) “testimonial knowledge” and connect it with Newman’s concept of implicit reasoning. Distinguishing between two types of reasoning — one spontaneous, practical, applicable to in the area of faith and morality, and the other: critical, analytical and retrospective, used in science, as well as in philosophy and theology — seems crucial to understanding the factual God’s hiddenness.
