Summary/Abstract: Transhumanism’s project of building a „better world” aims at giving sentient beings all-pervasive happiness. Philosophy sees happiness as a permanent, full, and justified satisfaction with one’s life as a whole full of sense. The „better world” offers no such happiness. It reduces happiness to the fulfillment of desires and achievement of ever new experiences. Happiness then becomes a discrete set of transient „happy moments” with no necessary relation to truth and good. Moreover, the mere sequence of realized desires and experiences does not create the meaning of life. Thus, transhumanist happiness turns out to be illusory.
