Summary/Abstract: In the second half of the nineteenth century the identity of the Serbian nation was to a large extent defined by the Kosovo Covenant. The paper offers an analysis of the utilization of this covenant in the ideological-political program of the Obrenović dynasty in the nineteenth century based on the evidence of the verbal-visual culture of the time. Various written and visual testimonies bear witness to the developed utilization of the Kosovo Covenant in the media propaganda of the House of Obrenović. The public opinion encouraged the introduction of the Kosovo Covenant question into the foundations of this dynasty’s ruling ideology.
