“el-Mevhibetü’l-ilâhiyye ve’l-‘atıyyetü’s-sübhâniyye” ADLI ESERİ ÇERÇEVESİNDE İSKİLİPLİ YUSUF EFENDİ’NİN TEFSİR ANLAYIŞI

Yusuf Efendi al-Iskilibi, who was born in Iskilip and brought up in Istanbul, was an eighteenth-century Ottoman scholar. Known as “Iskilibi logician (mantıqi) and sermon-giver (waiz)”, Yusuf Efendi worked as a professor (mudarris) in Suleymaniye and Sahn Saman Madreses and a sermon-giver in Suleymaniye and Fatih Mosques. One of his important works is his exegetical work, titled as al-Mawhibat al-ilahiyya wa al-atiyyat as-subhaniyye. This work has not been published yet and comprised of 637 folios. This is not a complete tafsir work but deals only with the exegesis of the suras from az-Zilzal to an-Nas. Given the limited number of suras this work engages in, it is a voluminous work. Yusuf Efendi pays a great attention to the linguistic analysis and literary aspect of given ayas, citations from early authorities and hadith literature. One of the factors that makes it a large work is its sermon character. This fact leads him usually to digress in his interpretations from the point in question and extensively engages in topics such as the birth of Prophet Muhammad and religiously significant nights. In his interpretations Yusuf Efendi closely followed the Hanafi views in legal matters and Maturidi views in theological issues. He also stresses the Sunni positions in his exegesis and refutes non-Sunni views including Mu‘tazila, Jabriyya. In most cases he names the sources for his quotations.

ABDULKAHİR EL-CÜRCÂNÎ’NİN NAZM TEORİSİ

According to Abdulkahir el-Cürcânî Quran’s inimitability depends on its (nazm) unique discourse arrangement . The Quranic discourse arrangement is means to take care of syntactic meanings between its words and phrases. The syntactic meanings that he means are difference from syntactic rules. They consist of application of necessities such as separation and joining, proposing and postposing. According to him the meaning has a dominant role in evaluating speaking fairly and eloquency and correctness of composition. He is one the supporters for descriptive literature critique. In addition to the other literature criterions he put forward the syntactic meanings for evaluate the text. He eliminated the views of preceded scholars for inimitability of Quran and decided that its inimitability depends on its unique composition. His book “ Dalaal aleajaz” “evidences of inimitability” constitutes the foundation of “ilm al-maani” “science of meanings” and the book “Asrar al-balağa” “secrets of eloquence” constitutes the foundation of “ ilm al-badi va’l-bayan” “science of adornment and explanation”.

In this work, the literary and conceptual meaning of the words hypocrisy and hypocrite are explored and the problem of hypocrisy is analyzed from the perspective of the theologians belonging to different schools of kalam. EBİ SALT DANİ VE İBN TUMLUS’UN ÖNERME ANLAYIŞLARI

This study explores Abu Salt Dani (d. 579/1134) and Ibn Tumlus’s (1160-1223) examination of propositions. Firstly, it examines Abu Salt Dani’s views on propositions, which can be summed up in four main categories: quality of proposition, quantity of proposition, mutuality of proposition and modality of proposition. Contrary to the approaches of most Muslim logicians, he starts his survey with all types of modal proposition, which can be classified in four main categories: absolute, possible, necessary, impossible. Secondly, it examines Ibn Tumlus’s views on proposition. Ibn Tumlus also examines quality of proposition, quantity of proposition, mutuality of proposition and modality of proposition. Furthermore, he examines, simple, component and conditional propositions. Finally, it will compare the approaches of these two logicians.

İLAHİYAT FAKÜLTELERİNDE ARAPÇA ÖĞRETİMİNİN GEREKLİLİĞİ, KARŞILAŞILAN SORUNLAR VE ÇÖZÜM ÖNERİLERİ

In this paper we examined the problems of Arabic language teaching at the Divinity Faculties in Turkey, and offered some solutions for them. Firstly we emphasized the role of Arabic language among the other religious sciences and the importance of Arabic teaching and its stages in the historical process. Secondly under the title of “external factors” we analyzed the changes of codes and their negative effects over the quality of Arabic teaching at the Divinity Faculties. We said that this external factors had a negative effects over the students’ motivations. Thirdly under the title of “internal factors” we analyzed the negativities obstructing the teaching of Arabic language in level aspired in this foundations. We examined them as the profile of students, academic staff and the quality of educational tools and environment etc. Finally we suggested some solutions about problem, and presented an appreciation for eliminating of negativities.

ERGENLİK DÖNEMİNDE DUA VE İBADET ALGILARININ RUH SAĞLIĞINA ETKİLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR ALAN ARAŞTIRMASI

In this article, the results of a field research that was carried out demonstrate the psychological effects of prayers and worships on adolescents’ mental health. The results of the questions were examined in the context of perception of prayer-worship and mental health. A questionnaire was applied to randomly selected sample of 450 adolescent studying at secondary schools in the province of Bursa, which is assumed to represent the whole population of adolescents in Bursa. The statistics used to analyze the gathered data included chi-square test along with other descriptive statistics such as frequencies, means and percentages. The results of statistical analyses revealed that the prayer and worship in the adolescence period have positive psychological effects upon mental health of adolescents.

At the second part of the 19'h century the Catholic Church encouraged its members to create new organizations and religious orders for organizing the missionary activities in a more systematical and modern way. These orders shared the certain part of the world among them for their activities. The Assomptionist order, which is the subject of this article, with the promotion of the Church, chose the East European countries including Turkey. The main task of the order is the integration of the Eastern Churches to the Catholic Church. Emmanuel d'Alzon who is the founder of the order, is a French bishop. In order to realize its main task, the order, which has been backed by the French Catholics, uses all sorts of press and the media facilities and the educational activities. They also organize pilgrimages to religious sites. The Assomptionists organized most of these activities in different cities of Turkey over the long years. In this article we tried to analyze the historical development of this order, its founder and its activities, especially in connection with Turkey.

The task of the paper is to analyze Talcott Parsons’ concept of economic disinterestedness, which the classical American sociologist introduced at an early stage of his work. It is aimed at economic orthodoxy, whose permanent foundation is the still vital figure of homo oeconomicus. The concept of disinterestedness is about crossing the limits of one’s own advantage in economic activities. When justifying the concept, Parsons refers to Alfred Marshall and his concept of a “gentleman of the world of free industry and entrepreneurship” and Max Weber’s concept of the “spirit of capitalism”. According to Parsons, the embodiment of disinterestedness in advanced capitalism should become a specific type of bureaucracy.

The consent to abuse made by consumers reflects a particular normative order which constitutes part of a socially accepted moral order. It constitutes a specific market regulator because the wide acceptance of unethical behaviours can hinder the functioning of legal and other formal institutions, while the lack of such acceptance can support them and make them more efficient. The paper presents the results of a periodical research project aimed at reconstructing this order in the financial area. The project, entitled “The Financial Morality of Poles”, includes a survey of a group of 1000 Polish adults from the whole country. The survey has been conducted on a yearly basis since 2016. The main result of the project is a map of Poles’ moral permissivism in the area of finance. The map is based on questions the respondents were asked about the level of justification of consumer activities which are illegal or which violate moral norms. Ethical standards for judging consumers’ behaviours vary considerably, from behaviours that are condemned by the overwhelming majority to behaviours deemed justifiable by more than half of the respondents. It was assumed that, based on the results obtained in individual questions, an estimate of consumer reliability on the financial market can be made. This estimate results from averaging the responses which accept the behaviours described in the questions and is defined as the acceptance index for unethical financial behaviours.

CSR i etyka przekonań

Examples of scandals related to exposing the unethical practices of companies which are classified as CSR leaders include cases where their declarations on undertaking social responsibility, as well as spending a lot of money on spectacular social campaigns and then rigorously reporting it in the appropriate documents, are accompanied by acts of abusing workers’ and environmental rights, misleading customers, i.e., abusing consumer rights, and finally “tax optimisation”, which generates measurable losses to the local communities. These cases raise the question about the reason for corporate social responsibility not being immune to abuse or opportunities to treat it as merely an image-related issue. The problem is presented using Max Weber’s widely known typology. It contrasts the ethics of conviction (ruled by the principle of intentionally keeping to the rules which have been adopted as being right) with the ethics of responsibility for the consequences of actions, including those that were undertaken in good faith but which have unintentional consequences. The usefulness of Weber’s typology when considering CSR problems becomes evident when we notice that the dominant interpretation of the corporate social responsibility concept, with its characteristic emphasis on voluntariness and positivity of actions within CSR, brings this concept closer to the ethics of conviction model. Voluntary actions in the field of CSR should go beyond carrying out regular goals of economic activities, i.e., the maximisation of profits, by providing good quality, desirable goods and services. However, what should be considered a prosocial activity –and thus, social responsibility –remains unclear in some companies. In accordance with the thesis of the paper, this ambiguity is one of the important factors that create discrepancies between declarations and real corporate activities. As we can see, the focus on voluntarily doing good which has been adopted in the current interpretation of CSR pre-empts the pursuit to avoid bad practices, both in theory and in the implementation of CSR programmes. Moreover, the CSR-dominant interpretation leads to a particular terminological confusion and replaces the companies’ responsibility towards concrete stakeholders, which is appropriate for the economic activity, with an abstractly understood responsibility towards an abstractly understood society. In this sense, the conceptual analysis of the relationship between CSR and ethics reveals that one of the important sources of problems with CSR is joining this concept with an unsuitable model of ethics. This is not because of the alleged defects of the ethics of conviction, appreciated by Weber, among other thinkers, but because it is a model that, in fact, is not suitable for business ethics. If the ethics of conviction is private, then it cannot be used to regulate social relations. In conclusion, it may be stated that, paradoxically, a dominant way of thinking about the social responsibility of corporations leads more to separation than to bringing together ethics and business. CSR, in its current form, cannot be an efficient means of implementing ethical objectives in business because it defines the issue of social responsibility as a sphere of private beliefs and arbitrary interpretations. Therefore, it undermines the relevance of the proper and socially significant notion of responsibility for economic activities and their consequences. Of course, the CSR concept can and should be modified; the question remains as to whether eliminating the elements that bring it closer to the ethics of conviction does not actually translate into giving it up entirely.
