Dynamika šíření lexikálních inovací: Identitární neologie a sociolektologie ve francouzském jazykovém kontextu

Author(s): Alena Polická / Language(s): Czech

The book presents both recent trends and historical developments of theoretical concepts in the study of neologisms and sociolectisms, including the parallels and paradoxes in their dictionary treatment, including the issue of the relationship between neography and sociolectography. Using French language data, the book outlines ways to approach the constantly changing manifestations of generational or group cohesion through the lens of sociolexicology. The sociolinguistics of innovation defined here involves, primarily, the modelling of the diffusion of neologisms, i.e. finding out how and why new words spread in society. The case studies also deal with how lexical innovations can be extracted from generationally symptomatic sociolects and how they can be tested by means of longitudinal questionnaires and rap song lyrics, which are a unique source of information on the semantic development of identitary neologisms.

Atlas nářečí českého jazyka – nominativ singuláru feminin

Author(s): Martina Ireinová,Vít Voženílek,Jakub Koníček / Language(s): Czech

The Atlas of Czech Dialects - Nominative Singular Feminine is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between experts from the Dialectology Department of the Institute of Czech Language of the Czech Academy of Sciences and experts from the Department of Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Science of Palacký University in Olomouc. The Atlas presents not only the dialectal phenomena that are declining and disappearing, but also the phenomena that are still alive. The main analytical dialect maps show the morphological differences in the territory of the Czech national language. The accompanying maps of spelling variations illustrate the overall territorial picture of the word form under study. In addition to the dialect maps and brief expert dialectological comments, the atlas contains texts describing the realities of former rural life, farming methods and customs, infographics, links to audiorecords and illustrative images created by artificial intelligence tools. The expert explanations are complemented by rich dialectal material, while the popular format of the texts ensures accessibility to a wide range of people interested in our dialect. Data from the Questionnaire for Research on Czech Dialects, processed into thematic maps, are brought to life by photographs taken by dialectologists half a century ago during field research.

Literatura źródłem związków frazeologicznych. Słownik

Author(s): Agnieszka Piela / Language(s): Polish

Literature is one of the oldest sources of phraseology. In the Polish phraseological resource, and not only in Polish, but there are also expressive associations of writer's provenance, the roots of which date back to antiquity. Importantly, this source is still alive and open, as evidenced by new constructions of this type entering the social circulation. Connections formed under the influence of various literary texts represent a sparsely investigated aspect of the Polish phraseological stratum. So far, there has been no elaboration showing the richness of the discussed phraseologies and explaining their literary origin. The presented collection, containing a total of 140 units of language, fills this gap in Polish lexicography. The book delineates the connections documented within both general and specialized dictionaries, as well as elucidates relationships newly incorporated into this lexicon, such as "plume dance," "waiting for Godot," "Dantean scenes," "heart of darkness," "Kafkaesque situation," "rabbit relatives and friends," "to rejuvenate hearts," "lion's share," "small apocalypse," "Mrożek would not have invented it," "order of souls," "lonely white sail," "skin and bones," "shadow streak," "The Three Brothers Budrys," and "call of blood". In native linguistics, there lacks a distinct designation for fixed constructions with a literary lineage. Consequently, the author introduces the term "literatureism" and its classifications: "lexical literature" and "phraseological literature." The main purpose of the publication is to present the meanings and etymology of the indicated fragment of phraseology. Studying the literary origins of currently operative expressions appears crucial, as the rationale behind many of them becomes increasingly obscure to users of the Polish language. Consequently, there exists a risk of their eventual obsolescence.

The first part discusses the methods used to determine the origin of the Voynich Manuscript – a mysterious text written in an unknown script. The second part seeks to say whether it is possible to distinguish the authors of comments from news servers, using methods that enumerate selected linguistic features. The third part also falls into the field of forensic linguistics – it examines the possibility of using the frequency of prefixes to differentiate text writers.

Pragmalingvistické a sociopragmatické pohledy na vybrané komunikáty (nejenom) mediálního diskurzu

Author(s): Jindřiška Svobodová / Language(s): Czech

"The authors of the monograph deal with pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic aspects of communicative activity in three relatively separate units. The first section examines the process of pragmaticalization of particles and the importance of their acquisition in foreign language acquisition and the formation of communicative competence. In the second section, the means used as a tool of impoliteness and verbal aggression are investigated. The so-called discursive politeness methodology based on the concept of face is applied to authentic texts and evaluates politeness strategies against the background of existing relational networks of the current social and communicative situation. In the final part of the thesis, the authors, using the methods of critical discourse analysis, carry out a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of media texts dealing with the issue of migration."

Breton et gallo. Situation sociolinguistique actuelle des langues de Bretagne

Author(s): Anna Třesohlavá / Language(s): French

This book is introduces the current language situation in Brittany. The Brittany is a French region distinguished by a particularly interesting language situation. It?s a region with two local languages (the celtic Breton in the western part and the romance Gallo in the eastern). Both of these languages have been influenced by the repressive language policy from the times of the French revolution. Those measures led to the language shift. Since then, the number of the users of those languages has been decreasing. Nevertheless, since the 70s, the perception of the breton identity has been changing and the population has been progresivelly expressing its interest in the regional languages. Nowadays, we can observe the phenomenon of the revitalisation tendences in both of the languages.

Text Segmentation for Menzerath-Altmann Law Testing

Author(s): Martina Benešová / Language(s): English

The leading topic uniting the texts in this monograph is the Menzerath-Altmann law and testing its potential validity on samples in different languages (in our case, in Chinese, Japanese, and Czech), on spoken as well as written samples and on samples with newly established, pioneer unit concepts. The Menzerath-Altmann law is reported to be capable of being applied on such variety of language aspects and is, therefore, regarded as a language universal. The monograph, this way, summarizes a follow-up research based on other pilot experiments held not only in the mentioned languages, and attempts to test the concept of the language universal.

Człowiek w relacji do zwierząt, roślin i maszyn w kulturze. T. 1: Aspekt posthumanistyczny i transhumanistyczny

Author(s): / Language(s): Russian,Polish

Prezentowana publikacja to dwutomowa monografia wieloautorska stawiająca pytanie o ludzkie „bycie z innymi”.
