STOCKPILE MANAGEMENT THROUGH THE EVERYDAY OPERATION OF A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY

STOCKPILE MANAGEMENT THROUGH THE EVERYDAY OPERATION OF A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY

Author(s): Szabó-Geletóczki Rita,Szabó Endre,Rudnák Ildikó / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

In this article, the stock management activities and stock levels of a pharmaceutical wholesaler will be analysed. Stocks play a significant role in both material flow processes and the supply chain. If the quantity of stocks is not adequate, stockout or overstocking may occur. Companies can take various measures to ensure uninterrupted supply, and also prevent shortages and stockouts. Therefore, the objective is to reach an optimal level of stock. The aim of the present study is to find an answer to how stockouts may be reduced or minimized in the future, identify which aspects of stock management activity play a major role in minimizing shortages, as well as analyse strategically important decisions pertaining to stockpiling. Another issue is to find out why it is crucial for us to know our strategic product groups, why it is important to conduct a more pronounced measuring regarding stocks of these products, and reduce the shortages to zero. The competitive situation of the market allows for a company to retain its customers for the long term, and to this end, providing quick and flexible service and ensuring the availability of products are of key importance. Today, immediate availability is particularly important. Consequently, time is a crucial factor as people have high expectations and do not tolerate long waiting times, thus inventory and inventory management are especially important where deficiencies are not allowed. As the central topic of the current paper stock levels at various sites of a wholesaler have been examined focusing on the product scopes with low stockpiles on the basis of the calculated turnover rate. Generally, stock analysis methods that would result in the successful decrease of shortages were sought after. The analysis pertained to the context of turnovers and stock levels, seeking parallels between stock levels as well as the size and spatial distribution of the customer base . Corporate inventory management and demand forecasting are two interrelated areas of management that can directly and significantly affect the efficiency and economy of operations What is more, an adequate stock level can signal a competitive supply chain.

INVESTIGATION OF THE STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS BASED ON PAPER HONEYCOMB

INVESTIGATION OF THE STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS BASED ON PAPER HONEYCOMB

Author(s): Grigaliūnienė Simona,Janutėnienė Jolanta,Tadžijevas Artūras,Šapalas Deivydas / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Composite materials based on paper honeycomb structure do have a potential in today’s fast changing markets and within the present context as sustainable products the demand for more economical and environmentally friendly products is highly increasing and stands out for environmental issues but must outstand the strength properties as the alternative products used in packaging industry. Strength properties of composite materials made of paper honeycomb were investigated experimentally. Static compression tests were made using testing machines “Zwick/Roell”. Composite materials were made with different honeycomb properties: cell high, cell size, various grammage of laminate layer. Honeycombs were dried and soaked before testing their strength properties. It was confirmed and determined that moisture is important factor for paper honeycombs. It was determined that strength properties are quite different for dried honeycombs and depend signific on the drying time which was adjusted for the specimens. Dried honeycombs hade higher resistance to compression up to 70% and depended on the increased drying time and other honeycomb structure aspects as the cell height and the laminated layer in the composite structure. Strength of all investigated composite materials was higher using honeycombs with smaller size cells (with same cell high). Sandwich panels with bigger laminated layer grammage had higher strength characteristics especially panels with smaller cell high honeycombs.

Andrejaus Sacharovo demokratijos plėtros tyrimų centro paroda „Andrejus Dmitrijevičius Sacharovas – epochos žmogus“

Author(s): Neringa Gališanskytė / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 77/2022

The effect of sociodemographic characteristics on the self-evaluation of health among the population in Serbia

The effect of sociodemographic characteristics on the self-evaluation of health among the population in Serbia

Author(s): Biljana Radivojević,Nataša Pavlović,Biljana Jovanović-Gavrilović,Mirjana Gligorić-Matić / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

This paper analyses the impacts of various demographic and socioeconomic characteristics on the way Serbian people assess their own health. Marital status, education level, and occupation were analysed using the three-way ANOVA statistical method. The results of the statistical analysis show that each of the selected features significantly affects the subjective experience of health conditions. Regarding marital status, unmarried people assessed their health status most favourably. In terms of education, a better perception of health was observed in people with higher levels of education. And considering gender, only marital status had an impact on the self-assessment of health in both sexes. For men, education had an impact, whereas for women, it was the type of occupation. The specificity in perception of one’s own health in the elderly population of Serbia(above 60 years old) is reflected in the fact that occupation was the only factor that influenced the subjective experience of health status.

Generic Social Process and the Problem of Success-Claiming: Defining Success on the Margins of Canadian Federal Politics

Generic Social Process and the Problem of Success-Claiming: Defining Success on the Margins of Canadian Federal Politics

Author(s): Scott Grills / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

Envisioning success and its pursuit as an enduring feature of human group life, this paper examines success as a humanly constructed and realized social process. As framed herein, success represents the attribution by some audience of qualities associated with achievement, attainment, and/or accomplishment to social act(s) and/or social objects. Consistent with symbolic interactionist approaches to the study of deviance, success is not a quality of the situation at hand, but rather is audience-dependent. Therefore, while the social construction of success may be evidence-based, what is defined as successful outcomes and what constitutes evidence of success is subculturally located. Drawing on extended ethnographic research, an application of alternate definitions of success is examined in the context of those participating in an electorally unsuccessful political party—the Christian Heritage Party of Canada. Specifically, this paper examines the definition of success in terms of political influence, providing political alternatives and demonstrations of religious faithfulness as strategies of success-claiming. Framing success in process terms, this paper examines the trans-contextual and trans-historical qualities of “doing success” as a feature of everyday life.

Body, Meanings, and Physical Exercise in Older Adults: The Qualitative Perspective of Frequent Gym-Goers

Body, Meanings, and Physical Exercise in Older Adults: The Qualitative Perspective of Frequent Gym-Goers

Author(s): Alexis Sossa Rojas / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

It is known that rates of participation in sports and physical activities among older adults decrease as they get older. This article focuses on the experience of the aging body at the gym, and it is one of the few that focuses on a little-studied group of frequent gym-goers. Based on an ethnographic work of more than two years in Amsterdam, I explain the goals of three older adults who frequently work out, what their relationships with the gym and their bodies are, and why they are interested in training in gyms. This article seeks to contribute to discourses on health, sport, and aging and, at the same time, to explain some of the advantages of qualitative studies in understanding the experience of aging and training in gyms.

Intimate Partner Violence Incidents and Solutions Reported by Turkish Couples in Long-Term Marriages: An Exploratory Qualitative Study

Intimate Partner Violence Incidents and Solutions Reported by Turkish Couples in Long-Term Marriages: An Exploratory Qualitative Study

Author(s): Mehmet A. Balkanlioglu,Zeynep Ozinci / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

This qualitative study investigates the relationship between intimate partner violence (IPV) and the duration of marriage in the Turkish context and explores spouses’ perceptions, experiences, and solutions concerning IPV. Participants were thirty Turkish couples married for twenty or more years. Data collection tools were a semi-structured interview, observation notes taken during the interview, and a socio-demographic questionnaire. Data analysis showed that psychological violence was the most reported type, while sexual and economic violence was not reported in long-term marriages. Only a few instances of physical violence were reported during the first years of marriage. Regarding gender, the perpetrators of physical IPV were all men except for only one case, while both men and women were the perpetrators and victims of psychological violence. Spouses’ proposed solutions for IPV were identifying the determinants of IPV, encouraging religious and values education, solving economic problems, building communication and patience, learning respect, responsibility, and love; or getting divorced. The study suggests some implications for professionals.

Edukacja zawodowa młodzieży a wyzwania modernizacji w dyskursie prasowym w Królestwie Polskim w latach 1905–1918

Author(s): Aneta Bołdyrew,Agnieszka Wałęga / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2022

The article describes the main directions of the discussion on the vocational education of young people in the context of the challenges of modernisation, conducted in the pages of Polish magazines in the Kingdom of Poland at the beginning of the 20th century. This period brought intensive development and new forms of vocational education, and new contexts, problems and arguments about the legitimacy of further development of this form of education appeared in the journalistic discussion. In 1905–1918, in the public debate about the modernisation of education in the Kingdom of Poland the constantly raised issue was the vocational education of young people, which was supposed to respond to the rapidly changing reality of social life. So far, these issues had not been the subject of historical and pedagogical analyses, while the discussion about vocational education at the beginning of the 20th century was conducted in various periodicals. The first part of the article attempts to analyse the ideological contexts of the discussion on practical education. The subsequent parts are devoted to the two issues particularly important in the press discourse after 1905 – the vocational education of peasants and the professional education of girls and women. These problems are discussed on the basis of extensive press research.

Optymizm pedagogiczny wobec tragicznej wizji natury ludzkiej

Author(s): Janusz Andrzej Majcherek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2022

The concept of tabula rasa, propagated in modern philosophy and anthropology, gave rise to contemporary pedagogical optimism, expressing conviction of unlimited possibilities in shaping personal traits of pupils, in accordance with the intended goals of upbringing. This view raises both factual and axiological doubts. The inborn traits, predispositions and talents of pupils differentiate their educational possibilities and their susceptibility to the applied methods of educational influence. Disorders and failures of the socialisation process do not necessarily signify its failure if they occur in the case of a nonconformist, contestant or potentially creative and innovative personality. The thesis of potential freedom in shaping educational processes and pupils’ personalities raises questions about the risks that arise if these processes and methods of shaping them are under the control of the wrong people or institutions. The aim of the analyses in the article is to indicate that the seemingly tragic vision of human nature, suggesting the existence of irremovable and impassable personality and characterological conditions that prevent the free shaping of pupils, develops the possibility of a differently understood and justified pedagogical optimism related to discovering the potentials, talents and predispositions that require development in the process of education and upbringing.

Pedagogika przygody w harcerstwie w opiniach instruktorów harcerskich

Author(s): Ewa Palamer-Kabacińska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2022

The Polish term pedagogika przygody refers to the type of outdoor education, adventure education and the pedagogy of experiences. In the next stage of the development of informal education in Poland, the trend reaches increasingly wide and diverse audience, gradually finding its place within academic didactics as well. The rationale behind the topic was that joint pedagogical activities and scouting (which developed as a domestic scouting movement in Poland) were being undertaken, as well as the fact that both are common activities in the world. The scout movement is constantly developing and looking for new methods that can be successfully used in educational work. More and more scout organisations hold internal staff training that includes new techniques and methods of working with a group. One of such proposals is the outdoor and adventure education. The pilot article presents the results of research conducted by scoutmasters: among other elements – conscious and unconscious methods of adventure education in scout activities. The aim of the study was to compare the opinions of two groups of instructors regarding the possibility of using outdoor and adventure education in their work with scouts. The first group included instructors who had undergone training in outdoor or adventure education, the second group included instructors who had no experience in this field. A survey method was used in the research. Opinions of the interviewed instructors on implementing adventure education method into the scouting method vary, but point to a possibility of their co-existence without compromising the scouting activities. They also emphasise the importance and benefits of the conscious application of the principles of the outdoor and adventure methods in scouting activities.

BEYOND CORONAVIRUS: NATURE, TECHNOLOGY AND HUMAN IDENTITY

BEYOND CORONAVIRUS: NATURE, TECHNOLOGY AND HUMAN IDENTITY

Author(s): Maria Annarumma / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

The great catastrophes of humanity – be it the plague of 1347 or that of 1629, the Spanish flu of 1918, the tsunami of 2004, the Coronavirus of 2020 – are all showing that, despite scientific progress or the arrogance of the "Promethean syndrome", the human being is constantly in danger. Violently and unexpectedly dropped in an atypical situation, which has subverted values and annihilated ancient certainties, we keep convincing ourselves that nothing will be the same. We try to hypothesize scenarios, outline reference frames, look ahead to the future. Probably, after the first months of austerity, of virtuous assertions about moral commitments to restore the frugality of customs as well as considerations about the sense of death and destiny, we will be carried away by the joy of having survived and we just would like to forget what happened. We will be rejecting the memory of suffering, bereavement, hospitals and intensive care. We will try to forget painful traces and go back to saying yes to life.

SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA, DELUSIONS OF CONTROL, MANIFESTATIONS OF SELF-DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR AND SOCIAL MALFUNCTIONING WHO HOSPITALIZED FORCIBLY AND VOLUNTARILY

Author(s): Sergii Boltivets,Oleksandr Bashynskyi,Olha Zahariichuk / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

The aim of the research was to explore the socio-demographic characteristics of patients with schizophrenia with delusional ideas of influence, manifestations of self-destructive behavior, and social dysfunction, who are hospitalized both forcibly and voluntarily. The study involved 155 patients diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. The patients were divided into two groups: the main group of 80 patients and the comparison group of 75 persons. The socio-demographic data obtained for the groups were processed using clinical-psychopathological, psychodiagnostic, and statistical methods. From the analysis it was noted that compulsorily hospitalized patients with schizophrenia showed fairly high levels of violence and victimization. Patients in the compulsorily hospitalized group had a higher severity of manifestations of self-destructive behavior and of delusional ideas of influence with fantastic content. Also, there was a difference in the level of social dysfunction between the two groups. The results will be used in the development of the program of medical and social rehabilitation of the studied contingent of patients.

Churning Selves

Churning Selves

Author(s): Talia Ariav,Naresh Keerthi / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

The Sanskrit campū Nīlakaṇṭhavijaya is arguably the most popular literary work of Nīlakaṇṭha Dīkṣita. It narrates the mythical story of the churning of the Ocean of Milk, with an emphasis on the part played by Dīkṣita’s personal god—Śiva. A close reading reveals that this text is preoccupied with themes of agency and subjectivity. The multiple characters of the story are not conventional archetypes. Rather, they inhabit shared worlds and come across as having distinct yet intersecting identities. Gods, demons, snakes and even Venom are given very human biographies and social milieux. And all these biographies flow into that of the titular Nīlakaṇṭha, presenting an implicit model of the self. But who is the Nīlakaṇṭha of the title?

The Ultimate Self-Awareness

The Ultimate Self-Awareness

Author(s): Hemdat Salay / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Śiva’s sense of self is ever-evolving, ever-changing. His selfawareness is in constant motion, expanding and contracting in its many manifestations. The movement is circular. It forms Śiva’s life cycle which is structured and bound to an internal dynamic based on a tensile balance between the reflexive and reflective modes of the god. The following article examines this dynamic, sketches the structure of the life cycle as it appears in the Kālavadha Kāvya of Kṛṣṇalīlāśuka, and aims to shed new light on the vibrant sense of Śiva’s self.

On Brewing Love Potions and Crafting Answers

On Brewing Love Potions and Crafting Answers

Author(s): Sivan Goren-Arzony / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

This paper studies Naiṣadha in Our Language (Bhāṣānaiṣadhacampu), a 16th-century Maṇipravāḷam retelling of the Nala and Damayantī tale from Kerala. It focuses on two main aspects of this text, both illustrated by different expressive modes: one ‘high,’ pulling towards the polished, dense literature of the Sanskrit style, and the other ‘low,’ pulling towards the performative, the local, and the colloquial. The first is exemplified by reading several verses where Damayantī is struggling to formulate an answer to Nala. Here, I discuss a heightened interest in the depiction of the individual, encapsulated in his or her relationship with and separation from other individuals. The second is illustrated by long prose sections describing men on their way to the wedding. Here, I discuss several allusions to Kerala’s contemporary society and literature, and the expressive possibilities of Maṇipravāḷam prose. The association with Śrīharṣa’s canonical Sanskrit Naiṣadhacaritam serves as a roadmap to some of the intriguing literary selections of this text.
